ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: WEEK FIVE

Week five is here and our guest bedroom and bathroom are finally starting to take shape. If you’re just tuning in, I (along with 19 other design bloggers listed below) am redecorating a room (well, two) in our house from beginning to end in just six weeks — which means I only have seven days to go! Here are before photos from week one, paint color decisions in week two, the decorating plan from week three, and artwork and styling dilemmas in week four. And now how about some sneak peeks in week five?!

design darling one room challenge

The wallpaper went up in our powder room (across the hall from the guest bedroom on the main floor of our townhouse) and it has me head over heels in love and wanting to wallpaper every surface of our home. This was really the only major thing I wanted to tackle in the powder room and it’s incredible how one step totally transformed the space.

This mirror arrived for the guest bedroom and will be hung on the wall across from the bed above the dresser. I love the cool shape and white lacquer finish — it’s just the clean accent piece your eye will rest on between pops of color from the cobalt and white curtains, navy headboard, and kelly green dresser.

I’ve decided I’m going to salvage the nightstands (which were too distressed and yellow against our white walls) with a fresh coat of white paint. It’s just too hard to find a substitute piece on short notice and they were final sale so I’m going to try to work with what I’ve got. Not that anyone should be tackling a painting project with just days before the final reveal… I’m going to need all the luck I can get.

lucite curtain rods

The lucite curtain rods are here and so gorgeous in person I could cry but it will be down to the wire on getting the curtains themselves finished in time. They are going to be such a strong statement in the space that it would feel completely unfinished without them so please send a prayer to the design powers that be and cross your fingers that I’ll get them home and hung with a little time to spare.

the ceh kelly green bamboo dresser

We’re also waiting on the kelly green dresser to arrive from The CEH but I have to tell you, the sneak peeks are looking fab-u-lous. I’m excited to be experimenting with more color and pattern in this room than in past projects so let’s hope it all comes together right in the nick of time!
