ONE ROOM CHALLENGE: WEEK SIX

It’s time for the final reveal! If you’re just tuning in, I’ve been redecorating our guest bedroom and bathroom on a timeline of just six weeks (you can check out progress from the first five weeks here) and today is the grand finale. I’m thrilled with the way it turned out and just a tiny bit relieved that everything came together at the last minute. Without further ado…

These bedside tables were almost the death of me. Despite ordering a “bright white finish” online, they arrived in a distressed off white that just didn’t work in this room. But the price was right and they were final sale so I did what I had to do: set up shop in our garage this past weekend, spray painted them a glossy white, lost ten million brain cells in the process, and tied a navy tassel around the drawer pull as a little finishing touch.

The room started taking shape the moment these drapes were hung. They’re the first thing you see when you walk in the room and I love how bright and welcoming they are. I had them made at the Dallas Home Fabric Center but you can order custom drapes through this Etsy shop. The fabric is Dana Gibson for Stroheim Madagascar from DecoratorsBest and I added a navy border on the inside edges to tie in the headboard from my old apartment in New York.

I played around with several different art options for above the bed before I remembered I happen to sell the perfect piece to welcome our guests to Dallas! There is so much color elsewhere in the room and keeping the artwork and headboard simple balance it out a bit. I’m a big fan of white bedding and Pine Cone Hill was kind enough to send over this bordered duvet cover and matching pillows. They are so soft I now want them for our bedroom upstairs!

green bamboo dresser

This dresser from The Collected Eclectic Home is the stuff my decorating dreams are made of. Finished with six coats of glossy green paint and topped off with shiny brass hardware, it turned out even better than I could have imagined. They have so many amazing pieces just waiting for custom color — I can’t wait to shop with them again soon! Above it I added this white lacquer mirror from Bassett Mirror Company (also available here) and these killer navy bamboo lamps (which I shamelessly ordered right after seeing them in my parents’ new house).

Across the hallway is our powder room. I had been coveting this Dana Gibson for Stroheim Canton wallpaper for-ev-er and couldn’t wait to see it in our new home. It makes a bold statement but personally I’m in love and think it will be a perfect conversation starter at our housewarming party in December! The shower curtain came from my New York apartment but Will’s mom felt like it needed a bold monogram to hold its own next to the wallpaper and thankfully her friend Delaney from Sew Sew Swell worked her magic on this gorgeous appliqué monogram in a crazy short time frame.

So there you have it! I hope you enjoyed the grand tour as much as we’ll enjoy hosting our next round of guests here. Will walked in as I was styling and said he wished our master bedroom looked this good so I think we’ve got our work cut out for us. 😉 Don’t forget to check out all the other bloggers participating in the One Room Challenge — interior eye candy overload!
