OUTFIT: TASSEL TOP IN ST. BARTH’S

The third stop on our trip with Princess Cruises was a day in St. Maarten. You might remember that Will and I went there after Christmas last year so I was pretty excited when I saw that one of the excursions offered was a boat ride to St. Barth’s to explore a totally new-to-me island for the day! It wound up being my favorite day of the entire trip as 1) it’s absolutely gorgeous there, 2) there are so many stylish little families that make for amazing people-watching, and 3) I got to speak French to our cab driver and waiter, which always makes my day to use what I studied in college.

This tassel top was a little outside my comfort zone but I fell in love with it the second I saw it online and knew I had to have it for the trip! I wore it with skinny jeans here just to save some room in my suitcase but I actually think I’d like it more with high-waisted flared jeans in either dark blue or white. (Any favorite high-waisted flares you’d recommend?)

Also, I’m pretty sure hats are going to be my new best friend. It was pretty windy the day that Ali took these photos for me and the straw hat totally saved me! I think I’ll be needing a more wintry option for concealing bad hair days when I’m not at the beach. The only thing is they’re a little annoying to pack in your suitcase and Ali and I are both pretty short so it’s hard to wear them without feeling you’re going to bump into things at the airport. Oh well! As my Grandy would say, “for style, you have to suffer.” 🙂

If you’re looking for a more affordable tassel top, I recently added this one to my closet and I’m loving this one that popped up on Shopbop last week.
