A LITTLE LIFE UPDATE

Today I just wanted to write a little life update (nothing major, just lots of little things!). I know I write to you guys every day but sometimes it feels like I have so many other things going on that I’ve completely neglected to share here. So this will be kind of stream of consciousness style but hopefully it fills you in on some of the things I’ve been up to lately!

design darling life update

First off, I can’t believe we only have three months until our wedding. I truly don’t know where the last seventeen months have gone and all of a sudden I find myself thinking, “Oh God, I need to trim my hair! When was the last time I had a facial? I need to amp up my workouts. Should I start running? Should I do eyelash extensions? Did we remember to order tablecloths?” ? I always thought people were exaggerating when they talked about the stress of wedding planning (“Oh, I’ll be more organized than they were!” HA) but clearly the joke is on me. My mind starts racing right as I get into bed and my insomnia has been pretty bad lately — I’ve even had nightmares about showing up to the church without my shoes! (What does it all mean?!) There are just so many details to keep track of! I can’t wait until we start meeting with our month of planner who will hopefully help me feel more on top of everything. I’m sure some of you are thinking, “Please stop talking about your wedding and just get married already” and honestly, #same!

Will and I have been taking weekly dance lessons and while I wouldn’t say we’re 100% confident yet, we’ve definitely improved a ton! It’s been really fun to take an hour or two a week and learn a new skill together — highly recommend whether you’re wedding planning or not. Fingers crossed we remember all our steps on the big day!

A few weekends ago, we sat down with my parents and brainstormed music and readings for the ceremony and I totally caught myself off guard by tearing up at a few of the songs! It just made everything feel so real to listen to the song that will be playing as my dad walks me down the aisle or as we leave the church as husband and wife. We still haven’t made our final choices but this was definitely one of my favorite parts of wedding planning so far.

I’m also getting so excited to spend the summer on Nantucket. My siblings and I are so lucky that my parents worked their butts off for so many years to purchase a home there and I’m just super grateful that we have such a happy place to call home on the island. I’m helping them do some redecorating (they purchased the home furnished and have hardly changed a thing in 15 years!) this summer and I think it’s going to be even more beautiful with a fresh coat of paint and a few decor updates. Ali and Patrick are moving in for the month of July so it’s going to be a good mix of work and play.

Will and I saw Billy Joel in the city last week and it was such an unbelievable concert. He just has so much energy and the crowd couldn’t get enough. We hadn’t been to a concert in a while and it was a fun reminder of how much we both love live music! Definitely something we want to do more of, especially with New York City at our fingertips.

My mom continues to be the best workout buddy and always gets me out the door when I’m not feeling it. I’ve been meaning to write a whole post on my parents’ current venture but for now suffice it to say that I don’t know how my mom manages everything she has on her plate. We’ve been doing a mix of boxing, Pilates, and weights and now she’s trying to get me into running… Let’s just say she has her work cut out for her. ? We’re working out at the Darien YMCA where I did gymnastics throughout my childhood (though not in the beautiful new facility) and I was so excited to go in and say hi to my former coaches (who are still there and do not seem to have aged a single day). It always makes me smile to walk into the building and think how full circle I’ve come!

Sorry for talking your ears off but it was nice to recap what’s been going on in our neck of the woods! I know you guys tend to like more personal posts like this one so I apologize if they’ve seemed few and far between of late. If you have any post ideas for me, please leave a comment below and I’ll add it to my list. And maybe tell me one thing that’s new in your world? I’d love to hear from you. xoxo
