WHY I’M FEELING REINVIGORATED

I had such a fun-filled weekend that I’m pretty sure I could sleep twelve hours a night for the rest of the week. I’ve been in a little bit of a funk the past few weeks and it’s during those occasional down moments that I always lament the solitary aspect of blogging full-time. Even though I love working from home and need time to myself to recharge, I definitely crave interaction with other creative types to feel excited and inspired. I couldn’t really put my finger on what had been getting me down until I got to spend a few days connecting/reconnecting with blogger friends old and new and realized that this is exactly the energy I’d been missing of late!

This weekend I saw lots of blogger friends who were in town for New York Fashion Week and even though I tend to take a less-is-more approach to shows and presentations, it was so good to hear what everyone is up to and get to chat with people who really understand the ins and outs of this growing industry. I ended the weekend feeling so grateful to be a tiny part of the blogging community and even more grateful to each of you reading right now who have made this career possible for me these past nine (!) years. It is such a blessing to connect with like-minded women all over the world and this weekend was just the kick I needed to start the new season feeling excited and reinvigorated about what’s to come. Here’s what I got up to this weekend for those of you who might be interested!

On Friday I went into the city for the Milly show which is always one of my favorite fashion week events. I love their dresses (you might remember the one I wore to my bridal shower last year) so it was a treat to preview a few of the pieces I’ll have my eye on come spring. I was so happy to run into my friend Jenn on the way in and we made plans to catch up the following evening. After the show, I met my rewardStyle consultant for a glass of rosé at an adorable wine bar called While We Were Young. I so wish it had been there when I lived in the West Village! Then Will and I drove back to the ‘burbs (read why we moved to Greenwich here!) to celebrate our friend Katie’s birthday with a big group dinner on the back patio at Terra on Greenwich Avenue. So grateful for the group of friends we’ve made here!

On Saturday, we went back into the city together to meet Jenn and her husband Bob for drinks at Ludlow House. We always have the best time catching up with them and wish they lived closer so we could see them more often! Jenn is such an inspiration to me — she is not only the most organized person I know but one of the kindest and most genuine people I’ve ever met — and Bob is basically the ultimate blogger husband/photographer. Could not love them any more!

From there we walked over to the LIKEtoKNOW.it party to celebrate the launch of their first coffee table book! I am so honored to be included as one of 100 influencers sharing the story of how I started Design Darling. I started reading the other interviews in the book on Sunday and they left me feeling inspired and extra lucky to be a small part of this industry. If you have any interest in blogging or are curious as to how any of your favorite fashion Instagrammers got their start, you can pre-order the book here. I got to catch up with so many blogger friends at the party (Becky, Brooke, Carly, Katie, Kelly, and more!) and the whole night just felt like one big pinch me moment. I’m excited to carry that positive outlook into the week ahead!

I’m excited to get to my desk today and start feeling more organized about what I want to accomplish these next few months (how are we already 75% of the way through this year?!). I’d love to hear whether you’re an introvert or an extrovert (side note: or an extroverted introvert? my friend Julia wrote a post on this and I feel like this is me all the way) and how you get yourself out of a funk. I hope you all have an awesome week!
