MEETING REESE WITHERSPOON!

If you follow me on Instagram then you know I got to meet Reese Witherspoon on the New York stop of the book tour for her first book Whiskey in a Teacup. The title of the book comes from a southern saying for women who are well put-together on the outside but strong and fiery on the inside, which I couldn’t love any more! I had actually already met her once at the opening of her Draper James boutique when we lived in Dallas (you can see that photo here) and I was seriously pinching myself that I got the opportunity to chat with her again! She is absolutely lovely in person, both inside and out.

A few blogger friends and I got to attend the book tour on behalf of her clothing brand Draper James and it was so fun to catch up with friends I don’t get to see all the time and pick out a pretty new Draper James dress to wear for the occasion! I wore this navy eyelet number (#shocking) and it’s such a great summer-to-fall transition piece. Reese was wearing this pretty emerald lace dress — and I think we photograph pretty well together considering we’re both 5’1″!

After the photo opp, Reese was interviewed about what went into the making of her first book and hearing her talk about the process made me that much more excited to dive in! The book itself is beautiful (the hot pink spine already looks b-e-a-utiful on our bookshelf!) but inside she shares recipes (both food and cocktails), entertaining ideas, style and beauty tips (please tell me you’ve seen this video of Jennifer Garner trying out the beauty tips — so good), and anecdotes from her childhood and memories of her grandmother in particular. As someone who absolutely adores my own grandmother, I love that Reese’s grandmother was the inspiration behind much of her first book!

Also can we all agree that Reese Witherspoon is just a total freaking boss? She has three kids, forayed an award-winning acting career into founding her own production company, launched a clothing line for which she has opened several brick-and-mortar boutiques, and has now published a book. There aren’t a ton of celebrities whose lives I think are truly inspirational, but I can confidently say Reese Witherspoon is at the top of that list and it makes me happy to offer my tiny show of support for her endeavors.
