1. The backs of your bookshelves (I’m digging this apple green and light blue combo)…
2. Your front door (hello, hot pink!)…
3. Your ceiling (in the same or a contrasting color)…
What fun spots have you painted in your place?

Totally agree! I’ve seen the bookshelf idea and a friend of mine has done the cieling with a pattern — amazing (though complicated to do!) — and it makes such a striking visual impact.
I love these ideas! The first is something I never really thought of but the second I fell in love with before when I saw it! I’m sure it doesn’t help that I’m obsessed with pink!
love the first image!! I would totally go for that!
I want a hot pink door!! The book shelves look awesome, too.
I totally want a hot pink door! Who cares what the hubs says!
I just started my own blog a couple of weeks ago. I’ve been following yours for a while now and love your blog. I would love it if you took a peek at my blog and, if you like what you see, follow.

Great post! I love an unexpected paint color in an unexpected place- currently I’m loving glass cupboards in kitchens with springy pastels (robins egg blue, seafoam green, the lightest of yellow) painted in the cabinets, reflecting out. Creates such a comfy, cozy kitchen that you want to nestle up in =)

I like painting hidden spots, like the edge of a door or inside of drawers, so you get a surprise when you open them!

I love painting unexpected spots! I have always wanted to paint a bright front door like the pink one here. A ceiling is also a great idea!

I’m having my hallway and stairwell painted a bright bubblegum pink. Will make me happy when I get up in the mornings for sure!
That hot pink door is perfection!!! What a fabulous shade of shocking pink xx
I’d love a hot pink door!
Love the idea of painted bookshelves. White shelves get so dirty and scratched after a few years – it’s the perfect way to freshen them up!
We painted the back of our dining room built ins a chocolate brown to make our white dishes pop- I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on it! And we just painted our door a bright blue.
Not sure I’m brave enough yet to paint the ceiling but love how it looks!
A family that lives near my parents painted the trim in their rooms and left the walls white, it was really gave the room a interesting feel.
love the idea of painting behind bookshelves! on my list for months!
