We had the best time in the Bahamas this past weekend celebrating our friends Jane and Scottie at their b-e-a-utiful wedding! I took roughly 68,239 pictures so I thought I’d share a little recap here. I’m the kind of person who likes to arrive at the airport three hours early and camp out with an iced coffee and a stack of magazines.
Will and I flew into Nassau and took a taxi to Lyford Cay to check into a little cottage with our friends Mike and Natalie. SO. CUTE. Then we booked it to the beach immediately (surprise, surprise). I’ve never seen such beautiful clear water in my life! The first night Will read a hilarious poem for Jane and Scottie and had everyone at the rehearsal dinner in stitches. #proudgirlfriend
The Lyford Cay Club was even more beautiful than I had imagined. Palm trees, pineapples, pink umbrellas… There was seriously a new Instagram-worthy moment around every corner!
The interior of the club was just beyond gorgeous. They definitely aren’t afraid of color in the Bahamas — I think we could all learn a thing or two. Bright palm leaf prints with turquoise pillows and coral sofas with chocolate walls (not to mention the PINK exteriors)… It’s going to make it very tough to appreciate New York’s gray skyscrapers again!
I think I could eat breakfast here every day for, oh, the rest of my life. 😉
On Saturday, we hung out on the beach for a few hours (slathered in SPF 70!) before it got too hot and everyone went off in search of ice cream. I’d like to make room in my apartment for a casual little yellow and white striped cabana. Thoughts?!
The setting for the wedding was really breathtaking. Jane did such a great job incorporating the colors of the club into the decor and her bridesmaids’ dresses!
Yay Jane and Scottie!!! Are they not the cutest couple?!
I wore a periwinkle silk dress from Zinke (c/o) and turquoise tassel earrings. And I always love seeing boys in their dapper best!
It was such a special weekend with great friends, great food, and an insanely beautiful backdrop for it all. Oh and bonus alert! I got to cross seeing a new country off my 101 in 1001 list. I hope we’ll be back again one day soon!
i grew up going to lyford and this post makes me miss it so much! I used to always get coconut ice cream with rainbow sprinkles. your dress looks gorgeous.
Hey Mackenzie,
I’m thinking about getting the Zinke dress for a wedding but the picture online looks like the material is very sheer. Did you have to wear something underneath or is the fabric thicker than it looks?
THANKS!
It’s not super sheer but I wore a nude slip underneath just in case: http://bit.ly/1vrqk7w
These pictures are amazing! Love the bright colors.

Mackenzie it sounds like you had a wonderful trip! I went to the Bahamas for the first time just a few years ago and I remember being blown away by how crystal clear the water was. Lyford is so beautiful and I am sure it must have been a great spot for a wedding, I love your dress!

This wedding looks like such a fairytale dream. I visited the Bahamas earlier this summer and was smitten with all of the colorful buildings and decor everywhere. You looked so lovely in that periwinkle dress, perfection!

I am definitely adding this to our travel list. We’ve been to Abaco but never here!
This looks like the perfect weekend! Your pictures are gorgeous. I hope that I get to go there one day!
Your pictures are absolutely stunning! It makes me want to go to the Caribbean ASAP. And I agree, we should all take a cue from Lyford Cay and be more bold with color, certainly makes things seem more cheerful!
I love Lyford Cay! We’ve been going for Easter since I was little. They actually redid it a few years ago and it’s even more beautiful than it was!
What a perfect getaway and a gorgeous wedding! You look stunning in your periwinkle dress. I don’t have an occasion to wear it to anytime soon, but I already want to get one for myself!
It looks like an amazing trip!! Putting this on my list of to-visit locations. xo!
Love your dress! How did you tie the front so the keyhole wasn’t there?
Absolutely incredible and -such- a DD travel & design destination. That pastel pink and white tent…I remember seeing a photo of it somewhere online and now I know where it is. Your blue on blue look is beyond stunning as well! Congrats to Jane and Scottie; I want to see the profesh photos when they’re out!
I was traveing so missed a few days…congrats on your new look. ADORE!!! And I love your dress with the tassel earrings!
