Thanks for all your sweet notes on yesterday’s post! I was reading them on my phone as I walked the NY Now trade show with my mom in search of new goodies (I trust her taste more than anyone’s!). We found a few cute things here and there but mostly it was a reminder that a lot of the products I want to decorate with just don’t exist yet… and it’s up to me to make them! Here’s what I wore for a day of wandering in search of hidden gems:
First of all, these are Old Navy jeans and they cost — wait for it — $32. The wash is great (as close to navy blue as denim gets) but I’m most excited that I don’t have to hem them! Hear that? It’s the sound of petite girls everywhere rejoicing.
I’ve been layering these two necklaces a lot lately. The first is my monogrammed necklace from Elizoebeth Jensen and the second is a map necklace from Three Jane. The designer Katie is an incredible new friend of mine and I couldn’t be more in love with the personal touch behind every piece she designs. One side of my necklace features a map of my hometown in Connecticut with a tiny diamond for where I grew up and the other side is a map of our neighborhood in Nantucket with a matching diamond for our family home there. How awesome is that?!
I don’t know about you but I live for a good gray t-shirt. I have one from American Apparel that I “borrowed” from a friend in high school and it’s super soft from years of wear! When Old Navy asked to see how I’d style a simple t-shirt and jeans, I knew it was time to scoop up a new gray t-shirt that I’ll wear thin in the years to come. I love the drape front on this one — girlier than the unisex number I have from high school and roomy enough for a post-dinner food baby. 😉 This has kind of been the summer of Old Navy t-shirts for me… and I’m totally cool with that.

Wasn’t NY Now so interesting? It was my first time going.. I agree that there could be so much more but it was definitely cool to see all the latest and newest! Excited to see what you’re brainstorming over there! xo
Love this look – definitely my favorite thing to wear as temperatures start to cool. So fun to spend the day with your mom – hope you enjoyed!! xo
I love the Madewell shoes and the laid-back look of this outfit. I always trust my mom’s opinion. I never buy a piece of clothing that she doesn’t approve of. Moms are the best!

That map necklace sounds so amazing as a memento of special places! Definitely going to look into it- my parents’ house and our beach home are my two favorite places in the world! And I have a pair of black Old Navy jeans that get more wear than any of the designer jeans in my wardrobe. I’m seriously impressed by how well they’ve held up and how nicely they fit!
