If you’ve been reading Design Darling for a while, you might remember this post (around this time last year) about mixing navy blue and black. I figure with fashion week upon us, there’s no better time for me to try out the look! And when Jones New York offered to send over one of their signature blazers, I knew exactly how I’d style it:
Black blazer + navy tank + skinny jeans + statement shoes! I think it’s a winning combo, don’t you? I’m a big believer that adding a fitted blazer can add instant polish to almost any outfit, any day of the week. I wear navy blazers all.the.time (previously seen here, here, here, here, and here) so I’m pretty excited about having a new color to style!
I picked out the Meredith blazer in black ponte knit and I think it’s the perfect wardrobe staple: affordable, classic, and versatile. (I also love it in charcoal!) For those of you who work in an office, it would be super chic layered over a sheath dress or a silk blouse. Here I styled it for happy hour with a few blog friends — proof that it’s just as suitable when you’re off duty.
Business on top, party on my feet.
This company Wink & Winn lets you design your own bag so I jumped at the chance to design my perfect navy leather tote. I actually don’t own a single black handbag (how do I live in New York?!) but I love how the navy accessories pop against the black.

I used to hate the black/navy combo, convinced that it would never work. However, I’ve also been playing around with it in my wardrobe recently. Your take on the mix is definitely some much-needed fashion inspiration! It looks GREAT. Thanks Mackenzie!
Those shoes are seriously amazing. Love everything about this outfit!

Girl, you look absolutely adorable. I love the navy + black combo, not to mention your heels. So cute! xx
I never would have thought to pair a black blazer with navy, but I must say, you totally pulled it off! And I’m obsessed with your shoes and bag – I must check out this Wink & Winn brand.

Those shoes are to die for. What (former) sorority girl doesn’t love to put a bow on anything and everything?

Love this outfit 🙂 I’ve been trying to find a blazer like this, thanks for the link!
Great minds think alike. I wrote about a similar outfit on my blog today, except I added brown too. I’m in love with your shoes. Bows are the perfect compliment to any outfit! 🙂

I am a big advocate of the black and navy color combo. It can be hard when it’s both a dark navy with black but if you have the perfect navy and the perfect black jacket, it’s perfection!
I love mixing blue and navy! It is such a classic, yet professional color combo!
I’ve been meaning to get a black blazer! Thanks for the ultra-chic reminder!!

Although I am definitely partial to navy, everyone looks good in black! I think a few wardrobe staples in black are essential, even for the preppiest of closets. Well done!!
I love your navy and black combo. Those shoes are seriously to die for, I’m in love!
This look is so on point! I love the casual chic style and those heels certainly round up this look and make it outstanding.
