One of the goals on my 101 in 1001 list was to take a calligraphy workshop. I follow a number of calligraphers on Instagram and jumped at the first NYC workshop I saw, taught by Ashley Buzzy. It was so much fun to try something new, sip champagne, and get to know a few fellow New Yorkers. Because the class came with all the necessary supplies, I’ve kept everything out on my desk and gone back to practice a few times since the workshop last week. It’s so nice to step away from my laptop for a few minutes and do something with my hands and it doesn’t help that I think calligraphy is absolutely gorgeous! I still need a lot of practice but I’m slowly getting the hang of it.
If you’re interested in taking a calligraphy workshop (I’ve definitely seen it on a few of your 101 in 1001 lists too!), here are a few of the calligraphers I follow who travel and teach classes across the country:
P.S. Other workshops I’ve taken in the past: baking macarons, Photoshop, pottery, and vegetarian cooking. #nerdalert
I saw on instagram you have a lemon tree!
“Buy (and subsequently keep alive) a lemon tree for my apartment” isn’t crossed off on your 101/1001 list though.
No posts in 11 days – should we be concerned?!?! hmmmm….
Taking a calligraphy class is on my 101 in 1001 list too! I haven’t been able to find anybody near me yet, but I’ll keep looking. Seems to me like you’re doing pretty good- the sample looks gorgeous.

I took a calligraphy workshop this summer and absolutely loved it! I’m hoping once it starts to get colder and I’m forced to stay inside I will start practicing more. Now i’m on the hunt for a watercolor class 🙂
I’ve admired people with such good handwriting and I’ve been dying to try my hand at calligraphy! I’ll definitely have to look into some classes around me!

That sounds really fun! I’m still dying to take a macaron class and other types of baking classes. Calligraphy seems like it would be interesting as well, and relaxing to practice.
Calligraphy looks soooo much easier than it is! I need to follow these people and get a little professional help – it really is so beautiful!
I have learning calligraphy on my list, as well! It doesn’t seem like there are any classes offered near me, so I will have to stick to online tutorials for now!

This came out so beautifully! I relate to what you said about creating something with your hands; I’d love to try this.
I taught my self how to do calligraphy a couple years ago but I would love to take a calligraphy workshop! A photoshop workshop would definitely come in handy and macarons are so good I would love to learn how to make those!
