OUTFIT: DESIGN YOUR OWN DRESS WITH PIOL

You know when a new company launches and you say to yourself, why didn’t I think of that? Or, worse, when a new company launches and you say to yourself, wait, I wanted to do that, why didn’t I follow through? That’s pretty much the case with Piol, a website that lets you design your own dress using custom measurements and color palettes tailored to your complexion, eye, and hair color. I remember wondering why this service didn’t exist in high school when it felt like everyone was choosing from the same ten designers for homecoming and prom. Of course it’s even more useful now with holiday parties coming up and friends sending out save-the-dates for 2015 weddings!

Given the opportunity to create my own design, I chose the draped empire waist dress with a scoop neck in a color that’s just outside my comfort zone and absolutely perfect for the upcoming holiday season. The dress covers my arms (making it easier to wear year-round) and nips in at my natural waist (flattering a part of my body that I’m more comfortable drawing attention to). The dresses are definitely investment pieces but they would be perfect for special occasions like graduations and wedding events. (How cool would it be to let your bridesmaids design their own dresses?!) Play around with the design tool and let me know what you come up with!
