Within the past few months, I’ve been paying more attention to the clothes and shoes that make me feel good. Which silhouettes flatter my body type? Which shoes make me stand taller? I’ve realized there are some pieces that never feel quite right on me (and tend to sit in my closet until I’m ready to face the facts…) and other items that make me feel like the best possible version of myself. One of those magically transformative pieces? The fit and flare dress. I’d like to collect one in every color, fabrication, and pattern under the sun. They make me feel girly, slender, and more confident than anything that clings to my hips or legs. This patterned dress from Nordstrom is one of my newly acquired favorites…

Clove honeycomb pattern fit and flare sweater dress  //  Ray-Ban sunglasses  //  Tom Ford Flamingo lipstick  //  Essie Fiesta nail polish  //  Alice + Olivia heels (available here in black, similar navy styles here)

This is actually a heavier knit than I expected, which makes it a perfect little sweater dress for fall. And I love the hexagon print — smaller on top to slim the waist and bigger at the bottom as it flares out. Shop more of my favorite fit and flare dresses from Nordstrom here:

  1. Fit and flare is a god send. It looks good on virtually everyone and can go from brunch with a cardigan or to a cocktail gala where I’m wearing one tonight with some serious bling.
ps. just bought an AMAZING emerald green fit and flare dress from Madewell last night for $59. Yes, you read that correctly – on sale, extra 30% off sale, AND used my totally valid student ID. Me and this dress are going to have a fantastic time at holiday parties this year!

  2. Love that dress. The fit is so flattering, and the pattern is great too. I think once you reach a certain age, it becomes more about investing in pieces that make you feel good and look your best.

  3. The fit and flare and shift dress styles are my favorite! It took me awhile to figure out what worked for me, but once I did…I felt like a new woman playing dress up 🙂
