It’s the second to last week of the One Room Challenge and I’m so excited to tie up loose ends and share the full big reveal next week! (Here are updates from weeks one, two, three, and four in case you’re playing catch-up!) This week we hung the entire gallery wall behind the TV and the space looks SO much better already. It had been feeling a little bare in there but hanging the artwork made all the difference in the world — suddenly there’s color, life, personality, and we feel like we’re really in the home stretch.

Week five:
Ahhh!!! What do you think? Will and Mike love it, which makes me so so so happy. It still feels like their space but 1,000 times more grown up and polished. Here are a few sources if you’re interested in the pieces we used:
Book tower // Slim Aarons Poolside Glamour print // Mirrored tray and stand // Slim Aarons A Wonderful Time print // Campaign dresser // Slim Aarons Harbour at Nassau print // Floor lamp // Arm chair // Throw pillow
Will and I are both big Slim Aarons fans and splurged on these oversized framed prints that we know we will hold onto forever. They wound up being much bigger than either of us expected (we were initially going for a slightly cluttered, more eclectic gallery look) but they absolutely make the space. It just reinforces my belief that if you buy only what you truly love, you’ll always find a way to make it work!

Week five:
Will and Mike agree that this bar cart is one of their favorite pieces in the room. It’s just so sleek! Getting rid of the big bulky bar made a real difference in brightening up the space and the mirrored finish is perfect for reflecting what little light they do get. Now I just need to hide all those wires…!
Week one:
Week five:
Hanging a gallery wall around the TV was probably the best decision we could have made. It makes the TV less of an eyesore and makes the whole space feel more intentional. Will’s mom found the antique crest in Texas and you’d think it was made for the little space between the dresser and the chair. Right next to it is a portrait of Townes van Zandt that Will found on Etsy and that we framed in mirrored glass to pick up on the bar cart. I love that the art assortment is a mix of 1960s cool, antique gems, and pieces that Will already owned that just needed to find new home. There’s definitely a collegiate/preppy/old-meets-new thing going on and I’m kind of obsessed.
Don’t you love the Shaken Not Stirred print propped up on the bar cart? It’s a photo of actor Roger Moore, who played James Bond in the 1970s. I really can’t wait to see how we’ll use and reuse all the pieces in many more spaces to come and truthfully I’m a little sad that the One Room Challenge comes to an end next week. It’s definitely been a challenge (I’m sure Will won’t miss the late night furniture assembly) but it’s also held us accountable for decorating on a deadline and it’s been really exciting to see the space transform in such a short amount of time. I’m thinking we should host a little holiday party to toast to the new look! Don’t forget to check back next week and scope out what the other One Room Challenge participants are up to here:

The art has transformed the space. It is looking awesome. Cannot wait for the reveal!
I wonder if the boys are hooked on decorating? Love the art, love the changes…can’t wait to see more.
why why why do people still have traditional TV stands?! there are so many other attractive options to hide the eyesore of cable boxes/xboxes/old dvds! i love the chest you picked for the TV to sit on! it’s masculine and sleek.
also love seeing a well-stocked bar cart doing it’s job (holding liquor – not bottles of wine, erroneous glasses, and thousands of cocktail napkins)!
The room looks so good now! It feels brighter and bigger! I adore those Slim Aarons pieces! I want to move in!
WOWZA! this is insane! i actually can’t believe it’s not even done yet! jeez. it looks one million and a half times better than it did before, and i absolutely love the gallery wall with the big framed pieces. i seriously can’t wait to see what the “finishing touches” are because it already seems pretty perfect to me!

Now that’s a gallery wall! I am currently looking at my T.V. envisioning all of the pictures that COULD be hanging behind it. Thanks for the mid-week decorating inspiration! 🙂

I love how the TV looks like it’s part of the gallery wall, rather than a gallery wall that happens to have a TV in front of it. Great job!
The whole room looks brighter! I love all the prints you have chosen!

I love the photographs you chose! They do make the space and it’s so smart of you to have invested in these fabulous pieces you will have forever. You have made such huge strides in just five weeks! I can’t wait for the final reveal next week!
Love it all! Love all the artwork you chose and that bar cart!! Can’t wait to see next week!
Ah, I love the new space! 🙂 I totally understand how difficult it can be to decorate a space without making it too girly. Decorating my home with my husband required lots of compromises but I’m so happy with how it finally turned out! I just wish we had those slim aarons prints.. adding them to the wish list 😉
xoxo
The art is AMAZING and you’re right…totally transforms the space, as gorgeous art always does. Love, love your gallery wall!
