It poured rain our second day in Aix-en-Provence so we spent most of the morning sipping cappuccinos and eating various Nutella-filled concoctions at a café on the Cours Mirabeau, a gorgeous walkway lined with trees and dotted with fountains dating back to the 17th century. Later we spent the afternoon at Atelier Cézanne, the studio where Paul Cézanne painted some of his greatest works. It was really unlike most museums I’ve visited in that you could stare at a slideshow of his works on a screen and then look three feet to either side and see the very props portrayed in each still life — practically untouched since he painted there in the early 1900s.
We stayed in a gorgeous little hotel called Le Pigonnet that I’d highly recommend to anyone planning a trip to Aix. The rooms weren’t big but the staff was friendly, the restaurant was lovely, and I couldn’t get enough of the navy linen walls or the rain shower. The gardens weren’t quite in bloom this early in the season but I can only imagine how exquisite they’ll be in just a few weeks! Grayson snapped these photos just before we headed out for the day and you can see a glimpse of the hotel grounds in the background!
Equipment shirt (more colors available here — use code EQFRIENDS for 25% off through Monday!) // Ray-Ban wayfarers // Lele Sadoughi earrings and bracelet, borrowed (also love this bracelet) // DL1961 skinny jeans // Tory Burch flats (eyeing these for my next pair!)
A new pair of Converse gave me terrible blisters on my first day in London (has this happened to anyone else?) so I kept alternating between these new favorites and these tried-and-true classics. I don’t care how ubiquitous the Reva flats are — they’ve earned a permanent spot in my closet based on how many times I know I’ll wear each pair I own. I love that the newer styles don’t have the elasticized heel in the back, making them less likely to slip off and therefore even more perfect for days when you know you’ll be doing a lot of walking!

Mackenzie, do you use a travel steamer when you travel? Just wondering how you keep your stuff so wrinkle-free! That shirt is lovely!

No but I should! I just rolled my shirts and jeans at the bottom of my bag (a trick I learned from my brother actually!). Hope all is well! xoxo
What a beautiful trip! I have loved seeing all of the pictures on the blog and via instagram. Totally helps take my snow blues away. Can you believe all the snow we are getting today! I want Spring!
Ugh, I’m jealous, that place looks amazing. And I thought I was the only one who can’t handle Converse! I feel your pain, literally 🙂

So jealous of your European adventure, but I love following along! I’ve been wanting the cognac Revas for a while now. I love the black ones, and they are definitely better without the elastic! Enjoy more Nutella-filled treats for me!
