We closed on our first house in Dallas at the end of last week and we’ll be moving in right after we get back from Europe! Neither one of us has enough furniture to fill an entire house so we’re going to take our time decorating each room to make it feel like a reflection of both of us. First up: the living room! This is the top priority since it’s really the space our guests will see first and where we’ll spend the most time together. We’re having it painted while we’re out of town so we can come home to a fresh coat of bright white throughout the living room, dining area, and kitchen.
And we just ordered our sofa! The room called for a sectional facing the fireplace (where we’ll probably mount the TV) so we’ll be putting the Chesterfield sofa from the One Room Challenge in Will’s office/man cave. We tried out a bunch of sofas (always good to test them out in purchase for such a big purchase) and ultimately fell in love with Pottery Barn’s Cameron upholstered square-arm sectional. I really, really wanted a white sofa but I know it’s just not practical with a pup who’s allowed up on the furniture 🙁 So we chose the linen blend in peacoat navy, which is beautiful in person and hopefully not too dark once we get the walls all spiffed up!
Anyway I thought it would be fun to share a few of my all-time favorite interiors that are inspiring the direction we want to take in our living room. Of course they all have light sofas but I know I can work around it! Thank God my favorite color combination (blue and white) is gender-neutral and gets Will’s stamp of approval!
Basically if our living room turns out light and bright and feels like summer year-round, I’ll consider that a success. What was the inspiration for your living room? You can always see more of mine here!
