We’re still waiting on a few big furniture purchases to arrive before we start hanging any artwork in our house since I’m not sure how things will look once the sectional, dining table, etc. are in place. So while the house is clean, our clothes are hung, and we’re no longer living out of boxes and suitcases, we’re kind of living in a white box full of piles of canvases and frames until the magical day when it all starts coming together and we can properly start to decorate.
When I spotted this home tour on House Beautiful’s website, I fell in love with all the layers of color and pattern and it made me want to race to get our living room all ready for summer. I love the unexpected upholstery choices — I probably wouldn’t have paired hot pink chairs with geometric print ottomans with a fiddle leaf fig printed pillow but I just love, love, love it! Of course it’d be hard to make a single decorating mistake with that gorgeous window as your backdrop, but I love that there are so many little details to keep your eye moving around the room. It’s definitely something I’m going to be taking into account once we can layer in pillows and accessories with our largely navy and white furniture pieces.
Isn’t it amazing? I have so many favorite little design details so I thought I’d round up a few pieces to help recreate the look:
I don’t know that I could live with quite so much color in our home at all times (there’s something very relaxing about a blue and white palette for me!) but these spaces definitely make me happy. What about you — do you gravitate toward calming color palettes or more invigorating ones?
