OUR NEW DINING ROOM CHAIRS

You might remember that we were considering these ah-mazing Jonathan Adler dining chairs for around our new dining table. But after buying a sofa, bookshelves, and bedside tables (decidedly more necessary purchases), we really didn’t need another thing to splurge on. (Furnishing a whole house is expensive… Baby steps!) That’s when I remembered these Society Social folding chairs that I had in my apartment in New York that have been sitting in our garage since we moved. The white seats were pretty dirty (I’m embarrassed to say I used them as a stool more than once to access the top shelf of my closet) but we realized we could unscrew them from the chair and recover them ourselves!

With Will out of town for a college reunion this past weekend, his mom and I set to work finding fabric and whipping out our new staple gun (#obsessed). We recovered all four chairs for $24 worth of fabric (we went to Rutherford’s in Dallas) and I absolutely love the look! Plus it was awesome to surprise Will when he got home on Sunday afternoon. I think the navy seats will prove a lot more durable (and I’ve promised to stop standing on them…) and super cute once our navy sofa and acrylic coffee table come this week! Here’s a super easy tutorial for anyone who’s interested in tackling a similar DIY project. I’m already thinking of how I can use our staple gun next! 🙂

2. Cut your fabric to the size of each cushion, leaving 1-2 extra inches to fold over the edges.

3. Staple away! We saved the corners for last, then folded them neatly and stapled.

4. Repeat for each chair and enjoy your new look!

What DIY projects have you tackled lately? Here’s another one I did with my dad last weekend. So fun!
