Now that the common area of our house — kitchen, dining room, and living room — is coming together, I’m slowly starting to shift my focus to the upstairs. I recently had the opportunity to select a couple new additions from Lulu & Georgia for our master bedroom and thought you might enjoy a sneak peek! We’re far from finished (eventually we want a headboard, new bedding, a reading nook, and lots more art on the walls!) but trust me when I say it looks better than it did a week ago. Progress, not perfection, right? P.S. There’s an exclusive promo code at the end of the post!

design darling bedside tableLulu & Georgia has an awesome assortment of table lamps (I adore these!) but I wound up going with two of the Besla table lamps and I knew I loved them the moment I opened the box. They’re generously sized and perfectly gender neutral so we can each have our bedside tables looking the way we like.

IMG_3727-2The other thing Lulu & Georgia is known for is their selection of area rugs. There were so many to choose from that I wound up pulling ten favorites and showing them to Will so he could help me narrow it down. I was pretty surprised when he nixed the classic jute and striped options in favor of this Rancho Ombre rug but I’m really glad he did. It’s just enough of a risk in our otherwise totally plain space and the color is so rich in person. I can’t wait to find a headboard and bedding to complement it!

I love the exposed cord and the little glass finial on top!

You might remember this dresser from the One Room Challenge we did in Will’s New York apartment. We used it to prop up the TV in their living room but now it’s housing clothes in our Dallas bedroom. I love the dark wood and brass hardware with all the shades of blue in the rug!

Since this is our first time decorating an entire home as a couple, I’m learning more and more about what Will considers too girly (my hot pink birdcage chair has found a new home in my office, for instance) and what I find too masculine (antlers, cowhide rugs, anything in that vein). Clean, modern pieces like a lacquer nightstand and glass lamps pass the test for both of us!

Rory approves. 😉

Shop our new lamps and rug and be sure to check out Lulu & Georgia for any decorating projects you’ve got in the works. The best part? You can use code DESIGNDARLING20 for 20% off anything that catches your eye. Have fun shopping — I know I will!

  1. Looks great! It is reassuring to see the not quite done spaces are still blog-worthy — proof that not everything has to be “picture perfect” finished to be shared! I have been in my house for almost 18 months and am still completing things as funds and time allow. Your blog is so cute and love your style- thanks for sharing!

  2. I was curious to see how yours and Will’s styles would mix, and the room looks fabulous! Y’all did an excellent job! Where did you find those nightstands? I might need one…
