A FEW OF MY FAVORITE PLACES ON NANTUCKET

It seems I can’t go to Nantucket without filling my iPhone with three hundred photos of houses, hydrangeas, ice cream cones, and sunsets. I had the best four days on the island with a rotating door of company — Amy for all four days, Will and my parents for two days with an overlap in between, and lots of quality time with my grandmother Grandy. It’s definitely harder for me to get up there from Dallas than it was from New York but we always say with Nantucket, the juice is worth the squeeze. We tried two new-to-us restaurants, Grey Lady and Cru, and really enjoyed both (meaning I get to cross off number #72 on my 101 in 1001 list!). Here are a few favorite moments with recommendations for anyone who might be heading out that way in the next few weeks (pack me in your suitcase?!):

A trip to Nantucket isn’t complete without a stop at Sankaty! Fun fact: my parents took their wedding photos here 🙂

The bluff walk in ‘Sconset is more of a hidden gem — it’s a public walkway in between the homes on Baxter Road and the beach down below. My mom spent her childhood summers on Baxter Road so it’s fun to listen to her and Grandy tell stories about Nantucket before I was born. If you’re visiting the island for the first time, the bluff walk is never crowded and is one of my favorite places to bring guests!

I think the sunset at Galley Beach is the prettiest one I’ve ever seen. Grandy, my mom, and I all walked out the door in unintentionally matching stripes… Typical. P.S. Mine is by Mott 50, a sun protective brand I fell in love with last summer. I basically lived in it the entire trip because I packed all t-shirts and shorts coming from 100 degrees in Dallas — I always forget how chilly it can be on Nantucket after the sun goes down.

In town, Amy and I stopped by Peter Beaton (Amy’s favorite striped shirts and Grandy’s favorite hats) and the Town Pool summer pop-up shop. We also had brunch at Met on Main which was so, so, so yummy. The wallpaper in the bathroom is my obsession in life. (Tied with this seashell clutch which makes me smile every time I see it.)

Finally, two repeat favorites that I don’t have pictures of: the Beachside Bistro at the Summer House (which Will insists has the best lobster roll of his life) and the Juice Bar in town (where if you don’t get hot fudge on top, you’re doing it wrong). Where are your go-to spots on Nantucket? I’m hoping to book another trip soon and am always on the lookout for fun new-to-me places!
