OFFICE INSPIRATION

Thank you all for the kind thoughts on yesterday’s post. It’s amazing what a little heart-to-heart can do, even if it’s with a bunch of mostly strangers on the internet. 🙂

I’ve mused before that I think the secret to a happy life is giving yourself lots of little things to look forward to. This probably isn’t the most productive way to live my life but I love juggling a bunch of different projects and staring at a full color-coded calendar. My mom always said I’m better when I’m busy and I try to keep that in mind when I’m feeling a little down by finding something new to get excited about.

One of those things for me right now is a fall shopping night I’m going to host in our new office space. (If you’re in Dallas, stay tuned for more details!) After the fun and success of last year’s holiday pop-up shop in New York, I’m really excited to meet customers and readers in person and let people experience the brand firsthand.

We have a front room in the office that I can’t wait to furnish and style and stock up with all my favorite products but it’s probably not big enough to house everyone I’m hoping will come to the event, which means we’ll have to get a little creative in the larger space where we work every day. It’s not ugly per se, but it’s very industrial and probably not most people’s idea of Instagrammable… lots of shelving for inventory and packing supplies, two huge tables for packing orders, and then our desks, printers, monogram machines, etc. Basically, I have my work cut out for me. Here are a few office spaces I keep referring back to for inspiration:

Now that we have the layout of the office figured out, it’s time to start thinking about fashioning it as well as it functions. Gretchen and I already use two of these as desks (I’m a sucker for a large desktop with lots of space to spread out) but I’m considering ordering a third that we can use to merchandise products during the event and then move to the back for interns and meetings afterwards. The part I’m a little clueless about is finding a way to block off the less-than-beautiful-but-very-necessary parts of the office that we use for storage and shipping… Any ideas? Excited to have another project to tackle and just a fun-filled night to look forward to!
