Who’s ready for another One Room Challenge?! Okay, I’m hilariously unprepared, but a lot can happen in six weeks. Some of you may remember me redecorating my boyfriend’s living room in New York this time last year. A lot has changed since then — we bought a townhouse in Dallas and moved in together — and this time around I’ll be decorating our guest bedroom and the powder room across the hall. I can’t wait to get it looking pretty for our next round of guests!
Here’s what the guest room looks like today. (SCARY. Keep in mind that we moved from two tiny New York apartments so we don’t have nearly enough furniture to fill the space!) The pieces that will stay are the scalloped headboard from my old apartment and the sconces I used to sell in my boutique. The pieces that will have to find another home elsewhere are the mirrored tables, the tall campaign dresser, and the random boxes we’ve yet to unpack since our move this spring. (Don’t judge.)
It’s basically a blank canvas right now (it’s so unlike me to live with so little color!) so I’m crossing my fingers that everything I purchase will show up in time for the sixth week reveal. My plan for the space? In the bedroom, I’ll be ordering new window treatments, replacing the campaign dresser (which I love but is too tall and skinny for this wall), replacing the bedside tables (any ideas?), hanging art and a mirror, and getting new bedding. And in the bathroom, I’m wallpapering! Well, hiring someone to wallpaper, because of course I chose a pattern that would be insanely difficult for me to line up perfectly.
I can’t wait to get started and I’m just as excited to follow along as the other participants tackle their various projects! You can see all of them here. Don’t forget to stop back in next Wednesday for an update on week two!

Obviously I’m playing catch up! So excited to see these spaces transform!
I love how the frames you chose for your bluebonnet paintings make them look more modern. I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything but rustic wood frames used with them before.
Love what you are leaving so I know the outcome is going to be fantastic! Good luck!
You have only just begun and I already love everything! I know this will turn out amazing! PS: Isn’t moving the worst?? Excited to follow along again this year!
So fabulous!!! I can not wait to see you transform this space. I know it is so special since you are not away from friends and family! So excited to follow along and to be transforming a space right along with you!! xo, Paige
Hi! I L-O-V-E everything about this! We just bought a townhouse and are looking for decorating inspiration – where did you get everything? 🙂 Thank you!
Hi Julia! Congratulations on your new home! I’ve shared sources for the headboard and sconce in the post as well as the bedding, dresser, and lamp in the comments. Let me know if there’s something specific you’re searching for and be sure to check back in next week! 🙂
Just a suggestion, if you love the campaign dresser, why not keep it but use the extra space on the wall to add accent chairs? And maybe even an oversides floor length mirror.
A perfect blank slate! Too bad about that dresser- it’s awesome! Can’t wait to see what wallpaper you choose!
This is going to be gorgeous! We’re so excited to see the wallpaper!
I can’t wait to see what you do with the space! I loved what you did with Will’s old apartment. Any advice for doing the ORC? I am doing the Thursday link-up one.
The sconce / headboard combo is a pretty darn good start, even if you still have details to work out! Good luck with all your deliveries!
Love the headboard and sconces. Can’t wait to see what you do in both spaces and what wallpaper you chose for the bathroom. Good luck to us all!
well well I am highly behind!! Dallas!? Congrats on the house and the cohabitation and all that. How fun to have a guest room and bath! Love your bed and sconces. You have a great starting point.

I bought it off of Craigslist and painted it myself. If you search campaign dresser on Craigslist, there are a ton in the DFW area! 🙂
Sadly I don’t live in DFW though everyday I feel like I might need to move there hahaha!
Thanks!!!

I really like the head board and the navy and white theme – I can’t wait to see the finished result!
