I don’t know if it’s the success of our first Christmas party, the fact that we finally have a full-sized kitchen at our fingertips, or a desire to get in shape before our wedding, but we’ve been doing a lot more eating and entertaining at home lately. Will has been perfecting his breakfast menu and I’ve been trying to find salad recipes that he’ll enjoy as much as I do. When kate spade new york asked me to whip up a Sunday supper inspired by their latest book All In Good Taste, I was all too eager to accept the challenge!
I firmly believe the best dinners start with a cheese platter and a glass of wine (and truthfully, I could happily make that my entire meal!). But in the interest of being a little more nutritional, I also made a kale salad with almonds, green apple, and raw Brussels sprouts topped with salmon and balsamic vinaigrette. I first tried the kale/raw Brussels sprout combination at a restaurant here in Dallas and surprisingly I’ve been craving it ever since. With all the other goodies mixed in, Will hardly remembers he’s eating kale in the first place. 🙂
I love all of kate spade new york’s coffee table books and All In Good Taste is no exception. It’s filled with endless entertaining ideas and recipe how-tos — perfect for anyone with a New Year’s resolution to become the hostess with the mostest. For our Sunday supper, we invited our friends over for a healthy but yummy early dinner to help everyone ease into the work week ahead.
It will come as no surprise that I fell in love with these striped dinner plates and based the rest of the tablescape around them. The best part is that even though they feel more festive than our plain white plates, they’re completely dishwasher safe so we can actually use them all the time! I love the crisp white flatware and the subtle polka dot detail on the wine glasses, and the cutting board, salad bowl, and crystal vase are going to be great basics to have on hand as we throw more parties in the months to come. Also, if you’re looking for fun housewarming or wedding gift ideas, these salt and pepper shakers are about as cute as they come and the perfect addition to any dinner table! You can browse all of kate spade new york’s entertaining essentials as well as their new kitchen line here. Happy entertaining!

Lovely post! This is a polite reminder that the napkin should be on the left side.
We have the same plates and wine glasses! We registered for them and like you said, since they’re dishwasher safe we use them all the time–more festive than basic white plates. Love how you pulled everything together, I need to order the new Kate Spade book! xo
Lovely table, but… Napkin goes on the left on the side of the Fork and knife blade faces in.
Sorry, sound like Miss Manners or Amy Vanderbilt. Also, press napkins! Dry Cleaning service
will do linens with starch -for photo shoots. Sorry to correct, but as interior designer who does
photo shoots and staging. Love your blog!!!
I am loving the new kate spade book, so cute with so many great tips! Your party looks so fun and I love how you decorated your table!

Kale and brussels sprouts are a great combo! I love this recipe and even salad haters eat it. Leftovers also keep well. http://www.bonappetit.com/recipe/kale-and-brussels-sprout-salad (it’s worth buying the pecorino cheese, it really tastes different than parmesan)
Everything is adorable- love it! Especially the pic with your pup 🙂
