Having family and friends in town for our engagement party totally reinvigorated my desire to decorate the rest of our house. The main floor (see the living room and guest bedroom here) is looking good but the master bedroom has a long way to go. I’m putting together a plan of attack for the headboard, art for above the bed, new bedding, etc. but while we’re waiting for all the big pieces to come together, we decided to add a little reading nook along the wall between the doors to the bedroom and our bathroom.

We used a lot of pieces we already owned — you may recognize the chair from our first One Room Challenge and the artwork and lamp from my New York apartment — but gave it a fresh feel with new pillows and a table from Oomph’s custom colored collection for One Kings Lane. I’ve been coveting one of Oomph’s tini tables from the moment I first laid eyes on them so I was pretty excited when this hot pink lacquer number showed up on our doorstep. I keep moving it from room to room because it looks so happy and spring-like everywhere I put it. Thankfully I have a pretty flexible fiancé who puts up with all my decorating whims. 🙂

Seeing turquoise and hot pink right when I wake up makes it pretty impossible to wake up on the wrong side of the bed — it’s one of my favorite color combinations and somehow wasn’t anywhere in our house until now! Also doesn’t the pool print tie in both colors perfectly? Will gave it to me a couple years ago for my birthday (we’ve been gifting each other artwork since we started dating!) and it makes me so happy to finally see it hanging on our walls.

  1. I love One Kings Lane, and this is the happiest reading chair I’ve ever seen! I love the bright colors, and it looks right at home in sunny Dallas.
