I spent some time over the weekend mapping out summer plans and while there’s literally a seven-week stretch where I’ll be traveling every.single.weekend, there is just so much to look forward to! Three friends’ weddings on the east and west coasts, weekend trips to Nantucket to see my family, taking our engagement pictures, my birthday in August… It’s going to be a seriously fun-filled summer.

A couple years ago, I published a fall to do list that I still see pop up on Pinterest from time to time. Even though I’m not sure how many activities I’ll personally be able to cross off this year, I thought it would be fun to bring it back with a summer to do list to make the most of my favorite time of year!

Design Darling's summer to do list for summer 2016

I try to remember to bring home a seashell from every beach day to add to our ever-expanding collection (goes hand in hand with taking a long walk on the beach to find the best shells!). I already have a few favorite rosés (Miraval and Whispering Angel are my go-tos) but that probably won’t stop me from sampling plenty more this summer! (Would love to hear your recs!)

Will gave me a hot pink beach cruiser and then forbid me from riding it in New York so it’s currently at my parents’ house on Nantucket, easily accessed for morning coffee runs or a quick cruise to the beach. Now I just need a pretty wicker basket… and Rory to let me put him in it. 😉

I love playing mini golf (remember this post?) and baseball is pretty much the only sport I pay attention to (#letsgoredsox) so it’s no wonder summer is my favorite season! And I’ll be doing lots of reading this summer because my current 101 in 1001 list expires in September… I’ve got my work cut out for me!

Seashells, s’mores, sports, swimming… Anything you’d add to this summer to do list? (I just remembered the 2016 Olympics start on August 5 which I know I’ll be glued to!)

  1. Love the rose you mentioned above! You must also try Triennes. It has become by go-to. Also Dark Horse rose is a really nice option at a great price point!

  2. Such a great list! I am definitely going to be travelling a lot this summer too for random adventures and weddings. If you’re looking for a good rose wine, check out Winc! It’s a wine subscription service, but you can get some bottles free! They have amazing rose, and other wines too!

  3. i can definitely think of where you can spend the afternoon on a boat! #endeavor

rose….i’m going to bring you a bottle of “Summer in a Bottle” from wölffer in sagaponack. <3

  4. I can definitely get down with finding a favorite rosé….or two 😉 I would add having a bonfire. Although, that’s not going to happen here in Kansas City, but I’m hoping to back at my parents house to make it happen!

  5. Love this to do list! Boating is definitely a must – I only wish I lived closer to the water! I missed out on strawberry picking this year. NC’s season runs from mid-April to early/mid-June, so I’m pretty upset since it’s one of my favorite things to do in the spring and early summer! Definitely the Olympics, as well. It’s the only excuse I can think of to sit in front of the TV for hours! xo
