Now that we’re finally finished with a whirlwind of summer travel, I’m excited to get back to a few ongoing decorating projects around the house. If you’re new to Design Darling, my fiancé Will and I moved from New York to Dallas a year and a half ago which meant moving from two separate (tiny) apartments to a three-bedroom townhouse and separate office space for my online boutique. So far I’ve shared parts of our living room, kitchen and dining nook, guest bedroom and powder room, and the Design Darling office… which leaves us with the master bedroom, home office, foyer, and hopefully more professional photos of all the spaces linked above. We feel so fortunate to have more space than we did in New York but man, is it a lot of work to make it feel like home!
The next project I’m focused on is our master bedroom, where I’m embarrassed to admit we’re still sleeping sans headboard and with a few unpacked cardboard boxes in the corner (seriously, I don’t even know what’s inside them but clearly it’s stuff we can live without!). We left a lot of Will’s furniture with his roommate in New York and we’re using the headboard from my apartment in our guest bedroom downstairs so we are really starting from scratch in this space.
In terms of where the room stands today, we purchased these bedside tables when we first moved here and are using this campaign dresser that we originally used as a TV stand in Will’s living room. We’re also waiting on this navy tufted headboard to be delivered (hopefully this week!) which I think will instantly transform the space. I also just ordered artwork for above our bed that I cannot wait to see in person!
Things that still need to be done:
- Unpack those freaking boxes already
- Replace the rug with something more durable
- Reupholster the chaise longue from my childhood home that’s been sitting in our garage and somehow get it up three flights of stairs
- Decide what to do with the fourth wall (update the reading nook? add a vanity?)
- Order new bedding (I’m thinking this is a must)
Long story longer, there’s a lot of work to be done! But the really fun kind of work. 🙂 In the mean time, here are a bunch of bedrooms totally inspiring me at the moment!
