WEDDING WEDNESDAY: WAYFAIR REGISTRY PICKS

Now that we’re within the one year countdown to our wedding, we’re starting to think about our wedding website and online gift registries for the first time. In today’s post I’m partnering with Wayfair Registry to share my initial thoughts on the registry process (plus a chance to win $20,000 towards your big day at the end of the post!). While I’ve bought seemingly dozens of wedding gifts over the past few years, it’s quite another thing to be brainstorming what items we’d like to use in our own home for decades to come. There is so much advice out there on the subject of what to register for that it can be a truly daunting task to take on.

I also think it’s such a highly personal matter that no one list can work for every couple. For instance, Will and I aren’t huge cooks so we’ll be registering for pretty basic kitchen essentials, whereas a couple who cooks every night might covet more high-end appliances and tools. Similarly, we moved into our townhouse from two small New York apartments so we’re discovering that we love to entertain now that we have the space but own very few serving pieces for throwing a proper party. My best advice (having only just begun researching all this ourselves!) is to do what works for the two of you. After all, you’re the ones who will actually be living with all these gifts after your wedding has come and gone!

Wayfair is a site I’ve turned to many times in the process of decorating two New York apartments and now our townhouse in Dallas (you might remember this set that I got when I first moved to New York — I passed down the sofa to my sister and we have two of the chairs in Dallas!). Now I’m excited to share that they’re introducing Wayfair Registry! If, like us, you and your fiancé(e) are big on decorating and entertaining, you’ll be happy to know Wayfair offers endless options for every room of the house so you can conveniently register for all things home in one place. Whether you’re outfitting your kitchen, decorating your bedroom, sprucing up your bathroom, etc., their assortment of more than seven million products (seriously, seven million) basically guarantees you’ll find what you’re looking for.

Another fun thing about Wayfair Registry is you can upload photos and leave notes to guests explaining where you’d use each item (makes the process of buying wedding gifts a little more personal, don’t you think?). And if you’re dreaming of gourmet appliances or new furniture but can’t imagine asking guests to spend that much, Wayfair has a group gifting option to help break down those big expenses across multiple gifts. If you don’t receive every item on your list, they’ll also give you a 10% completion discount to wrap up your shopping. Since, again, completing your wedding registry is such a personal process, this round-up features ten gifts I’d be ecstatic to receive as opposed to ten items I think every couple should register for. I’d love to hear if any of these will be making it onto your registry or, if you’re already married, you have any advice for the registry process!

One last thing: to celebrate the launch of Wayfair Registry, they’re offering couples a chance to win $20,000 to put toward their big day. To enter, sign up for Wayfair Registry and add at least $1,000 worth of product to your registry between September 20 and November 30 (no purchase necessary). I would be over the moon if one of you won!!!

*Thank you to Wayfair for sponsoring this post!
