I’ve found my wedding dress and ordered my veil but one part of my wedding day look I haven’t figured out is my shoes! Without giving away too many details, you’ll actually be able to fully see my wedding shoes with my dress (unlike most wedding gowns) so I want them to be just right. Several of you have asked if I’ll be sharing my wedding shoes on the blog before our wedding but I plan to keep them a surprise (even from Will!) until the big day. That said, I thought I would round up some of the many styles I’ve considered in the hopes it will help a few of you find the perfect pair to wear with your dress!

I would honestly say I’ve tried on at least half of these in the past couple months as my quest for the perfect wedding shoes continues. We’ll be getting married in a chapel followed by a reception on the beach, so the dress code for our wedding is a little less formal and it’s been a challenge to find a gorgeous pair of heels that feels appropriate for the setting. Somehow the sparklier styles (which are so gorgeous in person!) feel too glitzy for our island wedding, but I couldn’t resist sharing them here because I know firsthand they’d all make quite a statement! Without further ado, the many styles of wedding shoes I’ve considered… I would LOVE to hear what you wore / what you’ll be wearing to your wedding in the comments!

  1. I wore cheetah shoes on my wedding day and it was the best! i had original bought a really pretty pair of silver sandals to wear, but last minute changed my mind. It was so fun! And really shocked a lot of people 🙂

  2. We had an outdoor ceremony and I wore peacock blue satin wedges. Would definitely recommend because it was much easier to wear them outside and not worry about my heel sinking into the ground. I changed into flipflops for the reception which I quasi-regret because I hate how they show in photos. I wish I had found something better but I left it to the last minute! I loved going for the pop of color with my shoes and everyone definitely remembers them! Good luck in your search!

  3. Well since you asked 😉 I found THE BEST deal on Kate Spade shoes for only $60!!! They are gorgeous ivory round toe pumps with a gold glitter heel. (If you want to see them, please click through to my site; they are on one of my blog buttons!) The shoes were absolutely perfect for my look!!! I love them so much and have worn them a couple of times since our wedding (almost) three years ago. Happy hunting! I know you’ll find the perfect shoes for you, too!!

  4. I can’t wait to see your dress and which shoes you end up with, I just know you’re going to look amazing!

I’m having a similar struggle! My wedding dress ends just below my knee so my shoes will be on full display. My wedding and dress doesn’t really suit a versatile wedge and I need to go with a higher heel (voluminous shorter length dress + My 5″1 frame means I need to elongate my legs) but the thing I think I’m struggling the most with is making the investment in a pair of white heels I know I won’t get much use from after the wedding.

  5. Loving all these wedding posts! My fiancee & I are doing custom Stubbs – we live in/are getting married in DC and have opposing political parties, so we thought it would be fun to do the elephant & donkey slippers as a nod to our new home city! My dress will cover them & I’ll definitely wear them regularly after, which is a nice bonus.

  6. I am getting married in September also and I have already purchased navy Chanel flats. I like that they are classic while still being unique (since many brides don’t choose flats). They will also serve as my something blue for the wedding day. Good luck with the shoe hunt; I can see you going with blue for something blue and to go along with the island wedding feel, but am sure whatever you pick will be perfect!

  7. When I got married last May, I opted for low kitten heels because I wanted comfort as I knew I would be on my feet all day! Plus, my dress was long that it covered all but my toes peeping out! I went with pale pink suede d’orsay kitten heels that laced up the ankles from M. Gemi. They were beautiful and perfect, but the best part is that I wear them all the time with “regular” outfits now!

  8. I can relate to the struggle! I am getting married in late summer/early fall as well, and the reception will be under a tent. As much as I’d love to wear heels, they feel impractical for the setting; I’d hate to ruin a good pair of shoes (so sadly, satin Hangisi’s are out)! I’ve been on the hunt for a pair of wedges — Aquazzura, Valentino, Castañer and Loeffler Randall all have great options!

I can’t wait to see what you pick yourself, Mackenzie! I’m sure they will be wonderful! xx

  9. I just got my own wedding shoes recently and landed on Schutz “Jenny Lee” in a soft blush nude. Our wedding will be on grass so I liked that they had a block heel so I wouldn’t sink into the ground! I also know I’ll wear them all Summer after my wedding since they’re so easy and neutral, and since you won’t be able to see my shoes under my dress I couldn’t justify anything super fancy. Can’t wait to see what you end up with!

  10. I wore the “Eleni” flat by Kate Spade in blush. I wanted a more neutral shoe that wasn’t white or ivory. They were super comfortable and easy to walk in. I never had to worry about my heel getting stuck in the grass. I also loved the scalloped edge and bow detail, which made them perfectly “me”. It’s also nice having a pair of shoes I can wear again!

  11. that’s so intriguing that you will be able to see your shoes with your dress- dying to see it!! i ditched my wedding shoes right after pictures, before walking down the aisle- they were so uncomfortable!

  12. I am getting married in May and have a hi-lo dress too! I just started my alterations fittings and am even more obsessed with it than when I bought it! Finding amazing shoes was a must for me too since they are fully visible. I looked at soo many options. My mom saw the Aquazurra Monaco sandals and thought they would be perfect (blush pink color). I was skeptical at first because I thought the beading was too much, but when I actually tried it on with the dress it is the PERFECT complement. I encourage you to try on your top contenders with your dress if you have that ability. Seeing the whole picture is invaluable. Best of luck finding fabulous shoes, can’t wait to see what you end up with!

  13. for my wedding (6 years ago!), I wore a pair of gold Kate Spade open toed shoes, with some pearls on the toe part. It’s now my tradition to wear them to my friends’ weddings – so I get extra use out of them and have a special memory!
