MY NANTUCKET RECOMMENDATIONS

It’s about that time of year! Every spring I start getting emails from readers asking for my Nantucket recommendations on where to stay, where to eat, and what to do on the island, a place that’s been near and dear to my mom’s side of the family since the late 1880s (full story coming soon!).

I’ll be living there for most of the summer this year to finish planning our wedding and I know many of you are planning weekend trips or weeklong stays this year! I haven’t spent the full summer there since my cousins and I worked on the island as teenagers so I’m extra excited to prolong my stay and play hostess to visiting family and friends. In the mean time, here are a ton of posts from summers past featuring many of my family’s favorite spots!

If you have any questions about Nantucket, I’m happy to answer them in the comments or via email. And if you are headed to the island this summer, safe travels and have a wonderful time! I might be a little biased but I think it’s the best place on earth. 🙂

  1. I know it’s almost summertime when I see your great Nantucket recommendations post! I’m wondering if you can advise on something specific: My family usually goes down to Nantucket for a long weekend each summer, but this is the first time we’ll be traveling with my new puppy (an adorable 8lb shih tzu named Gryff). I know the island has a reputation for being pretty dog friendly, but do you know if most restaurants with outdoor seating would allow a dog to sit at our feet while we eat? Or are there only specific places that allow that? Any other tips or impressions regarding having a dog on the island would be much appreciated! Apologies if you’ve already addressed this in a previous post!

    1. Hi Jenna! I wish I knew from experience but Rory is such a beggar when it comes to food that we usually only bring him to the coffee shop near my parents’ house. I know Cisco Brewery is definitely dog-friendly and I just did a quick search and it looks like the outdoor spaces at Lola 41, Millie’s, and Queequeg’s are also dog-friendly. I’m guessing if those places are dog-friendly that most other restaurants with outdoor seating would be fine too. Sorry I can’t be of more help — I hope you have an awesome trip!

  2. Thank you so much for sharing so many wonderful recommendations! I can’t wait to try all of these great places when I check Nantucket off my bucket list this June!

  3. Absolutely dying to get up to Nantucket soon – it’s where my parents went on their honeymoon in the 80s, and I’ve always loved the low-key photos they took while biking around! I’m a New York/New England-raised girl, and I can’t believe I’ve never been! That being said, I love learning about the history of the island, and am so excited to read your family’s story! Definitely a post I’m looking forward to 🙂 Thanks for sharing a place that has so much meaning to you!

  4. My fiance and I are honey-mooning in Nantucket this June! We’re getting married in Newport, RI – then hoping on the ferry the next day :). We’re so excited!
