I know I’m a day early for Wedding Wednesday but I couldn’t wait to share these pictures from my bridal shower this past weekend! My parents’ friend Marie hosted us at her home in Newport and had her entire backyard decked out in blue and white. Even all the gifts were wrapped in my favorite color combination! She truly thought of everything and it meant so much to me to spend the afternoon with the most important women in my life in such a special setting. Below, a few pictures and stories from the day!
Marie introduced my parents 35 years ago and is my youngest brother Camden’s godmother. We are all so lucky to have her in our lives! By the way, I went with this Milly gingham dress for the occasion — perfect for the blue and white theme! You may recall I also own the matching top, both of which will be summer staples of mine for years to come!
Even the hydrangeas got the blue and white memo. 😉
I was so touched that five of my bridesmaids made the trip! From left to right, my sister Reilly, friend Amy, cousin Sarah, friend Carver, and friend Ali.
I don’t know what I would have done without Ali this summer. She and her husband Patrick moved to Nantucket for the month of July and have been so helpful in getting the house ready for the welcome party the night before our wedding. There’s been painting, sanding, wallpapering… They are the ultimate good sports and the easiest house guests of all time. Ali is the happiest person I’ve ever met and is upbeat no matter how overwhelmed she is, even on the day a couple weeks ago when her computer crashed (on an island without an Apple store) and she almost lost 97,000 photos (!). She is truly a ray of sunshine in my life and I am so thankful to know her! I’m going to do everything in my power to keep her on the east coast at the end of the summer. 🙂
My beloved Grandy made the trip off island with us and was such a trooper with all the quick travel. She gave us the flatware we registered for and we can’t wait to have her over for dinner as a proper thank you!
Marie, me, and my mom! My parents’ dog Coach was the only boy at the party and was fascinated by the skateboarding bulldog next door (seriously, he was like built-in entertainment!).
I received so many beautiful and thoughtful gifts but my favorite present was just getting to have so many amazing women together. I can’t wait to see them all again so soon!
My mom passed down the Nantucket lightship basket my grandparents gave her when she graduated from college and I teared up reading her note! Here is my new (old!) lightship basket with my Grandy’s and Aunt Jill’s. This is a piece I will treasure (and carry often!) for the rest of my life.
I also teared up when I opened Marie’s gift! She needlepointed us a pillow with a heart over ‘Sconset where we’ll be married with our wedding date at the bottom. I asked her if she started it before we got engaged — it must have taken her forever! I am so touched and can’t wait to display it in our home.
My sister Reilly has been the most incredible maid of honor a girl could ask for. She is hands down the most thoughtful person I know and even though we have totally different interests and styles, she’s the first to check in about what I’m envisioning and how she can help bring that vision to life. Not only did she plan the most fun bachelorette party, but she’s also building us a little sailboat (complete with our wedding crest!!!) to house beers at our welcome party. I full on cried when I read her note. She’s one of the funniest, most genuine, most down-to-earth people I’ve ever met and I might be biased but I’m pretty sure she could be the next Tina Fey because her knack for comedic timing and storytelling is just unparalleled. I cannot wait to hear her toast at our wedding reception!
As I was opening gifts, my Aunt Kate crafted a bridal shower bouquet with all the ribbons, which my sister Reilly will bring to our rehearsal at the chapel. Such a fun new-to-me tradition! It was just the most special day and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to not only be marrying the love of my life, but to have so many other people I love surrounding us as we say “I do.” Now back to writing thank you notes! 💙

How do you get from Nantucket to Newport? Heading to Newport in the fall and figuring if we can hop over!
We took the ferry from Nantucket to New Bedford and then my aunt picked us up and drove ~45 minutes to Newport 🙂
Your bridal showers looks so cute and like so much fun! That pillow is gorgeous- what a thoughtful gift!

Oh my gosh, what a wonderful day! Love this!
Do you know how to needlepoint and if so would you consider doing a blog post about it?
I don’t but I’m dying to have my Grandy teach me! I will definitely write a post on it when I start to learn 🙂
Mackenzie, you are a very blessed woman, and I can tell you don’t take any of it for granted. What a wonderful family you have (and friends)!
This means so much to me. Thank you!
It looks like a great day! By the way, you’ll love the Pottery Barn flatware you received from your grandmother! We registered for ours when we were engaged over 3 years ago, and it still looks brand new.
I’m so happy to hear that! 🙂
Gorgeous! And your Grandy looks exactly how you described her in an earlier post. I still want to be her when I grow up…or at least own a few colorful scarves like hers 😉
This is absolutely beautiful, and what thoughtful gifts + gestures from friends and family! Also, love that fun new tradition with the ribbon bouquet. xox!
@Monica- it’s funny, I totally thought that was a new thing too when I went to friends’ showers. But then I found an old picture of my mom from her own bridal shower in the 70s, and she’s wearing a gigantic ribbon bouquet as a hat (because my adorable cousin decided it would be chicer as a hat).
Just beautiful as are you!!! So very happy to see your joy!!! Your taste is impeccable, so I REALLY cannot wait to see the wedding pix!!!!!!!!!!!! Many blessings to you both!!! xoxo
looks like such a beautiful, and thoughtful shower. it’s the best feeling having your nearest and dearest all together to celebrate!
