NANTUCKET BATHROOM REVEAL

I hope you guys are ready for a bunch of Nantucket room reveals because they’re going to be coming at you often over the next few weeks! Decorating often feels like a waiting game — waiting for certain pieces to arrive, waiting for different projects to be tackled — but I live for the moment when everything starts to come together. Thankfully we’ve had a lot of those moments lately and I can’t wait to show you all the magic!

Today’s reveal is one of the upstairs bathrooms, right across the hall from the guest bedroom I shared earlier this month. It used to follow the guest bedroom’s under-the-sea theme, with bright turquoise wallpaper covered in fish, shells, and other underwater creatures. This is one of the only spaces for which I don’t have a before picture, but trust me when I say it was desperate for a more sophisticated look.

Enter Peter Fasano, a treasure trove of fabrics and wallpapers hand-painted and silkscreened right here in Massachusetts. I fell in love with so many of the patterns in their collection, from the super chic Indiennes style to this graphic Vriksa woodblock. My mom and I ultimately decided on this bold Sintra print, comprised of complementary blue and white squares and resembling classic Portuguese tile. The quality of the paper is to die for and completely transformed this tiny bathroom from a dated and juvenile bath to a sophisticated and totally timeless little corner of our family’s home. Ali’s husband Patrick stripped down the old wallpaper and my mom and Aunt Jill had every wall repapered in one afternoon. For someone who was downstairs stripping wallpaper from a different bathroom (reveal for that space coming soon!), I have to say the transformation was practically instant.

And no bathroom reveal would be complete without pretty new accessories! You might remember my love of Annie Selke’s Pine Cone Hill from our guest bedroom and bathroom when we lived in Dallas, so I knew their pretty towels were a must for upgrading this bathroom. You all know I love navy blue, but I wanted this space to feel extra bright so we went with bath accessories in Pine Cone Hill’s French blue colorway and it is the most beautiful complement to the lighter shade in the wallpaper. Even without replacing the lighting or towel bars, the new shower curtain, towels, and bath mat took this space from good to great. And even though most of us use the outdoor shower all summer long, it’s definitely an upgrade to dry off in a plush white towel vs. a sandy one straight off the beach!

P.S. If you’re decorating a bedroom or bathroom, you need to know about Pine Cone Hill’s Classic Colorful Coordinates collection. You can pick your favorite color and instantly shop bedding and bath items that all coordinate perfectly with one another and the photos are so visually appealing they make me want to redo our entire house in Connecticut. For real, I cannot even handle this striped bed skirt (seriously, way to make the most boring/utilitarian item crazy adorable!) or these striped hampers (which would make my weekly schlep to our basement washer and dryer a bit easier on the eyes).
