THIS WEEK’S ROSE AND THORN

Today I’m going to start a new Friday series on the blog where I’ll share the rose and thorn of my week and invite you to share yours too! This is a fun dinner table tradition in my family and now that I’m thinking about it, we actually did this in my sorority chapter meetings in college (except we called it carnations and thorns — any other Alpha Chis out there?). I hope it will be a fun way to share more of my day-to-day life and of course learn more about what’s going on in all of your worlds as well. I’m excited!

This week’s rose was my brother Grayson coming out to Connecticut to work from home together Wednesday through Friday. I definitely get lonely working by myself all the time and I found I was so much more productive with a coworker! He does video production in New York and had a bunch of projects to edit, so he lugged his desktop computer onto the train (serious commitment) and set up shop in Greenwich for a few days. We did dinner with our parents on Wednesday and dinner with Will last night and it was just so much fun to have a work buddy. I hope we can turn this into a more regular occurrence!

This week’s thorn was getting thrown off my miracle morning schedule. I mentioned it in this week’s post about the books I’ve read recently, but I was seriously inspired by Hal Elrod’s book The Miracle Morning to become a morning person once and for all. All last week I woke up at 5:30 a.m. (and crawled into bed by 9:00 p.m. haha) but this week a couple of late nights totally threw me off my game. I was really loving how productive I felt waking up before the sun so I’m eager to get back on track next week.

What were the rose and thorn of your week? Have a great weekend!
