Get ready for the first room reveal in our new house! My goal is to post one room reveal every 2-3 months until the end of our lease just under two years from now. I’m starting small with our foyer but I’m hoping to have our living room ready to photograph next. Honestly I wish I could post home projects more often but decorating is such a process for me and it’s also way more expensive than shooting a new outfit for the blog. So hopefully every 2-3 months is a doable balance for me and you guys will still enjoy some more regular design projects around here!
This room was a pretty blank canvas that gets great natural light but has a not-so-pretty taupe carpet that I was keen to cover up. I posted a couple months ago about some of the decorating decisions I was making in this space and I’m really happy with how it all turned out!
The biggest purchase for our foyer was the floor mirror, which reflects the light from the front of the house and which (to be totally honest!) I wanted for taking Instagram stories of what I’m wearing on a given day. Many of the other items were pieces we already owned and it’s always fun for me to remix pieces in a new space. We already had the acrylic console and the porcelain umbrella stand from my Upper East Side apartment and the lacquer mirror from our Dallas townhouse. I also had a new navy cover made for our acrylic x-bench and I love that it gave it a fresh new look!
You might recall that I was having trouble finding artwork to add some color to the room and I was so happy when I stumbled upon these Casey Chalem Anderson seascape prints. Pictured above are Dune Beach (19″ x 16″ with frame) and August Water (21″ x 21″ with frame).
I also finally caved and ordered this set of ginger jars that I’ve been coveting forever. They are really substantial in person (they actually hardly fit on the console) and make me so happy! You could also totally split them up and display them in separate spaces. And they’re all really good sizes to use as vases as well!
Serena & Lily was kind enough to send me their jute border runner and I couldn’t love it any more. It’s also available as an area rug but the runner is perfect for covering up some of the carpet in our foyer.
