You know how some clothes just have a transformative way about them? Like a pair of heels that make you feel six feet tall or a pair of jeans that suck you in in all the right places? That’s exactly how I feel about this perfectly tailored blazer by Smythe (not sponsored or gifted, just full-on obsessed).
I purchased the navy one last year (seen here) and I’ve found myself reaching for it so often that I scooped up the white version during the Shopbop sale last week. It’s definitely a splurge but the fit is just insane: the sharp shoulders, super tailored bodice, and fitted/easily scrunchable (?) sleeves.
(Side note: I have a personal pet peeve with women wearing blazers or oxford shirts without rolling up the sleeves a little… it looks so rigid and uptight and just ugh. Unless you’re in a business formal environment, no thank you. Scrunched sleeves for life.)
In any event, a tailored blazer just makes me feel like a million bucks. I obviously don’t need one to wear to work, but I wear it all the time for girls’ nights or in this case, date night at a new-to-us spot called Tavern at GrayBarns (to die for, by the way — I’ll be sharing more of our fave spots in CT in a future post).
I usually wear mine over a gray t-shirt or a silk cami with jeans and it just makes me feel bossy in the best way. If this one is a little out of your price range (totally get it but seriously, it’s worth saving up for) you can find similar styles here and here. I hope you find one that makes you feel confident too!
P.S. I’m wearing a size 2 and it is very fitted when buttoned (though I basically never wear it that way because, again, let’s live a little). If you’re between sizes, I’d recommend ordering up for a comfier fit through the middle — just make sure the shoulder seam still hits at the outside of your shoulders for that super tailored look.

Absolutely adorable!! ❤️❤️❤️
I believe the Duchess of Cambridge wears this brand of blazer in navy (thus the name). Really lovely. Does make the wearer look really pulled together. There are however two trends that I can’t get on board with – the sleeve scrunching and the lack of a belt. In my humble opinion, if you’re going to invest in an expensive blazer or sweater, don’t ruin the sleeves ; ) Secondly, I think a nice slim, braided leather belt would really polish the overall look. Just my opinion – like I always say, wear whatever makes you most comfortable, that also goes for how you style it.
To each her own on the scrunched sleeves — just my personal preference! But I agree a belt would be great with this. Thanks for weighing in!
Love your outfit and your shoes. And your totally right about the rolled sleeves thing. You should feel confident in this outfit, you look amazing.
Thank you so much! 🙂
Smythe really does have the best blazers! Love the white version on you!
