THIS WEEK’S ROSE AND THORN

Happy Friday! Will and I are en route to Nantucket for the weekend and we’re both so ready to soak in the island before it gets super busy. I’ve been extra antsy to get there this year after watching our wedding video approximately 134,093,156 times this winter! I hope you all have a great one.

This week’s thorn was a brand campaign falling through at the last minute. They say good things fall apart so better things can come together, but it’s always hard not to think, “Who did they choose instead of me? What does he/she have that I don’t?” And it’s obviously hard when expected income just disappears into thin air when you’re not receiving part of a salary every two weeks. I know blogs and social media can seem like perennial happy places but this week I was definitely reminded of a few of the pitfalls of self-employment. I’m sure any other small business owners out there know the feeling!

This week’s rose was partnering with Annie Selke to donate ten of their adorable striped dog beds to the Connecticut Humane Society in Westport. My mom and I drove up together to drop them off and it was so sweet to see the pups cuddled up on their cozy new beds. I came home begging Will to get another dog even though I know it’s 100% not the right time in our lives to take on that responsibility. They were just so precious! If you are looking to add a new furry friend to your family, you can search their adoptable pets here — I’ll be living vicariously through your new puppy cuddles!
