HOW MANY COUNTRIES HAVE YOU VISITED?

One of the questions I’ve gotten the most on my Instagram Q&As is which country I want to visit next and while I’m not exactly a travel blogger, I’m constantly daydreaming about our next adventure! I can’t remember if I’ve mentioned it on the blog before or not but I’m obsessed with this app called Been that tracks the number of countries and states you’ve visited and tells you what percent of the world and United States you’ve visited.

Bermuda

Dominican Republic

England

It turns out I’ve been to 26 countries and 42 states. We had a goal to see all 50 states as a family growing up and I believe we hit 37 before we all started going off to college and it became harder to find time to travel with all six of us, but I’ve hit a few additional ones on my own and would love to think we’ll be able to hit all 50 together at some point in our lives! And I think studying abroad in Tours, France, helped me visit the most countries in one period (and was around the time I started Design Darling!). Here are the countries I’ve visited in alphabetical order (I can’t remember exact chronological order!):

Finland

France

Kenya

  1. Anguilla
  2. Austria
  3. The Bahamas
  4. Bermuda
  5. Czech Republic
  6. Dominican Republic
  7. England
  8. Finland
  9. France
  10. Germany
  11. Greece
  12. Italy
  13. Kenya
  14. Mexico
  15. The Netherlands
  16. Puerto Rico
  17. Saint Barthélemy
  18. Saint Martin
  19. Sint Maarten
  20. South Africa
  21. Spain
  22. Switzerland
  23. Tanzania
  24. Turkey
  25. United States of America
  26. Vatican City

Mexico

South Africa

Tanzania

I’m not totally convinced that Saint Martin and Sint Maarten (French and Dutch sides of the same island) ought to be counted as two individual countries but regardless it’s cool to think I’ve only set foot in 10% of countries on Earth! I feel so fortunate to have been able to travel to each and every one of these places and can’t wait to see where the next 29 years of my life take me!

I’ve been publishing some more conversational posts around here (things I would talk about with my girlfriends, like asking your opinion on dining chairs or talking about the jewelry you wear every day) and it’s been really fun to learn more about you all and see you engage with each other in the comments, so I’d love to keep those kinds of posts coming if that’s okay with you! I’d love to hear how many countries you’ve visited in the comments and which ones were your very favorites (or which ones you’re happy to have crossed off the list!).

P.S. You can browse a ton more travel posts here!
