STRIPED SHIRT AND NEEDLEPOINT SLIPPERS ON SANIBEL ISLAND

One of my favorite parts of our trip to Florida two weekends ago was the boat ride from Boca Grande to Captiva and walking along the beach on Sanibel Island. I’m my happiest self in or on the water so this was a perfect day in my book!

Any time I’m heading out on a boat my mind immediately jumps to nautical stripes so this Saint James shirt was a no-brainer — easily one of the most worn items in my closet. I get a lot of questions about the fit of these shirts and I tend to favor a size small in the Minquiers Moderne style, which is less fitted and looks great with scrunched sleeves. You can find it in a ton of colors here… I want them all!

I picked up this straw tote before our trip and love the little bow detail. I have a not-so-slight obsession with straw and woven bags for warm weather — I could easily go the entire winter without a single handbag but I collect summer bags like it’s my job. I’ve had these needlepoint slippers since last summer and find myself reaching for them all the time. I love the subtle green and navy pattern!

  1. Hi! Wondering what you think about bringing a young family to Sanibel Island (specifically the Marriott). Is there enough to do with younger kids? Even if its just swimming, boating, fishing, etc.

    Thanks!
    Sarah

    1. I’ve never been to the Marriott and we were just there for a day (without kids) so I’m not sure I’m the best person to ask, but my friend Kelly from @kellyinthecity is there with her husband and daughter now so she might be able to help!

  2. Mackenzie,

One: you look so happy and glowing in these photos! Winter sun definitely agrees with you.
Second: if you don’t mind sharing, could you do a post about how you edit your photos sometime? Or just share your secret for getting such light and airy photos. I love the look.

    Thanks so much!
P.S. I am also guilty of the summer handbag obsession…
