IT’S A BOY!

Can I just say I am so impressed by people who wait to find out the sex of their baby?! I was calling my doctor’s office practically every day waiting for our blood test results to come back and finally in week 14 they had an answer for us. We’re having a baby boy!!!

I was completely surprised and to be honest a little overwhelmed at first because I’d been so convinced we were having a girl! Will and I had already agreed on a girl’s name so it took a couple days to wrap my head around picking out a name for our baby boy. I actually spent a couple days trying out different names we both liked (literally talking to my belly when I was home alone haha) and we’re pretty sure we’ve found a winner!

I was bursting at the seams to share the news and hadn’t been feeling my best (read my first trimester recap here) so we nixed the idea of a big gender reveal and just shared the news with family and friends over the phone. Again I’m so in awe of moms-to-be who find out with balloons or cake or fireworks but for me and my impatient self, there was no way I was waiting a single extra second!

Finding out we’re having a boy (and narrowing down names for him!) instantly made everything feel more real and I’ve been counting down the days until we get to meet him ever since! Not to mention bookmarking all the cute baby boy clothes and dreaming up ideas for his future nursery… there’s so much to look forward to I can hardly stand it!

  1. Congrats! I’ve followed your blog since college and now that my friends are getting married and having babies I love that I can follow your journey as well! Thank you for sharing and I am so happy for y’all 💙💙💙

  2. Congratulations! I’m expecting a baby boy in September too, I can’t wait to follow along with you! 💙👶🏼🎉

  3. So happy for you! I am partial to first born boys – it’s the very best! 😉 The best is on his way, yay! <3

  4. Congratulations!! I’m pregnant with our second boy as well! I always thought I wanted girls, coming from a family of all girls, but I absolutely love being a boy mom!! Plus, dressing them is so much fun!!! You’re going to love the special mommy-son bond. There’s just nothing else like it!

  5. My family planned my gender reveal party and folks made travel arrangements to NY from PA and even London(!) and then my doctor’s appointment got postponed… we knew our window was tight and we might not get the results ahead of the event but no one wanted to reschedule so we ended up just having a baby party. As the universe would have it, we found out the very next day after the event (it’s a girl!) Congnratulatilns on your baby boy!

  6. Congrats! I have a little boy on the way, too (due in August) so I look forward to following along! Hope you’ve been feeling better!

  7. Congratulations! Boys are the sweetest! My son is 2.5 and Momma is still his favorite. Enjoy this time so so much! And then enjoy that sweet baby!

We find out the gender of our second in June and I am busting at the seams to know RIGHT NOW!

    Congratulations again!

  8. Congrats! We waited until they were born to find out about our twins. So many people thought we were nuts to do it that way, especially since we were having two, but it really was so fun not to know. It was also very out of character for me since I am a Type A, planner. Though since you do know, now you can start preparing!

  9. Congratulations!!! I was totally convinced we were going to have a girl too so having a boy was a big (and wonderful) surprise!! I was dying to find out and the lab LOST my blood test so I had to redo it and wait even longer… I don’t know how people can wait!!! So excited for you two!!!

  10. (…been impatiently refreshing the site to see the news this AM!!) Congratulations!!!! I feel like it’s only fitting considering your love of all things BLUE! We are due in September but not going to find out the sex until delivery. It was so tough at our 20 week appointment closing our eyes but other than that it’s been fun not knowing and hearing people’s predictions. And I think it’s also helping keep my shopping for all things baby under control. Congrats again, you look amazing! Hope you’re starting to feel better!
