7 BOOKS I’VE READ RECENTLY

It’s been forever since my last post about what I’m reading! (You can browse all my reads and rankings in the books category here.) I’m currently switching between Bringing Up Bébé and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire which makes me feel like I’m a child about to have a child but I don’t feel too badly about it! Will and I are slowly but surely enjoying rereading the Harry Potter series together (more on that below) and as always I’d love any recommendations for what to read next (whether it’s books on parenting or a juicy new thriller, which I’m totally overdue for). Do share in the comments!

Off the Clock by Laura Vanderkam

Rating: 5/5

An excellent read on time management from a full-time writer and mom of four based in New York City. My aunt and cousin recommended this to me last summer and I’m so glad I finally bumped it to the top of my list! The book is full of insights from all kinds of professionals as well as “time makeovers” from guinea pigs trying out her time management recommendations for the first time. I finished the book inspired to be more intentional about how I plan and spend each hour of my day — highly recommend whether you’re feeling disorganized or just want to find more time to focus on a certain aspect of your life.

All We Ever Wanted by Emily Giffin

Rating: 2/5

I know people love this author and I was excited to read her work for the first time, but I kind of couldn’t stand this book. It centers around two teenagers, their parents, and the fallout after a picture taken at a high school party. While the subject matter feels timely, the characters were pretty cliché and the ending felt extremely abrupt. Would love to know if any of you felt differently!

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, and Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling

Rating: 6/5 🙂

As you may recall, Will and I are rereading the Harry Potter series as part of my 101 in 1001 list and just started on the fourth book. We’ve each read the series twice on our own and are now listening to the audiobooks before bed and they are absolutely phenomenal… I swear the narrator was born to perform these books! His different voices for each character make the books come alive in a new way — whether it’s your first or fifth time experiencing the magic of Harry Potter, you must give the audio version a try!

168 Hours by Laura Vanderkam

Rating: 4/5

I read this after loving the author’s more recent book Off the Clock and found the concepts a little repetitive from one to the next, but I still love her no-nonsense approach to deciding exactly how you want to spend your 168 hours each week. You could probably get away with reading just one or the other, but still highly recommend her work if you’re looking to get a better handle on managing your time!

The Singles Game by Lauren Weisberger

Rating: 5/5

Pure beach read fluff and I loved every second of it. It tells the story of female tennis pro Charlie Silver and her quest to come back after an injury and win a major tournament. I particularly enjoyed the in-depth descriptions of each tournament after taking in the French Open last year but the juicy tidbits about Charlie’s family and love life kept me interested up until the last page.
