ONE SWEATER, TWO WAYS

Sooo apparently this is my first outfit post since July! I’ll admit I basically spent the last six weeks of pregnancy and first three weeks postpartum in sweatshirts and workout leggings and it feels good to start thinking about putting together real outfits again. I’m excited to ease back into the swing of things with this sweater because it’s one of those cozy and versatile pieces I’ll have in my closet for years. Quite a few of my favorite sweaters over the years have come from Banana Republic (remember this one from last year?) and this one is equally on point. It’s super soft, perfectly fitted, easy to dress up or down, and under $100 to boot.

I wound up getting the sweater in both navy and white (easily the two most common colors in my wardrobe) and decided to style it two totally different ways. First I paired it with these silky high-waisted pants and a long white blazer for a dressier, more professional look. I always struggle to find pants I love that aren’t jeans and this pair is an absolute DREAM. The high waist makes them extremely leg-lengthening and perfect for pairing with the slightly cropped sweater. Seriously if you work in an office, attend conferences, speak on panels, etc. as part of your job, you pretty much need these in your life.

I threw on the navy version with olive pants and sneakers to take Teddy on a walk with Will and Rory but now that I’m looking at these photos I want to try the navy sweater with the navy pants for a chic monochromatic look (and the white with the olive for that matter). Anyway this second, more casual outfit is more realistic for my new day-to-day as I start venturing out of the house a bit more but it still beats a sweatshirt and leggings!

P.S. I’m a little all over the place in terms of sizing right now but I’m 5’1″ and wearing a size small in the sweater, 2 regular in the blazer, 2 petite in the navy pants, and 26 short in the olive pants.

P.P.S. A few more current Banana Republic faves: this classic camel coat, these perfect nude pumps, and these slouchy suede boots (nearly identical to this pair I purchased last fall).
