GETTING READY FOR HOLIDAY GUESTS

Can you believe we’re into November? (Two months left of this decade! 😱) I’m extra excited for the holiday season this year because it will be Teddy’s first Thanksgiving and Christmas and we’re hosting both of them at our new house! Our house is far from finished and will be for quite a while (you can tour our first round of completed projects here!) but as long as everyone has a place to sit and a place to sleep, I think we’ll be good to go! (Thankfully my parents’ house is just down the street so we’ll be able to cook and house several family members there as well!)

Our guest bedroom is still pretty much a blank canvas, but I did want to spruce it up a bit in time for Will’s parents and my family members to stay with us. I ordered all new pillow inserts for this bed last year and now I think it might be comfier than our bed (though we’re waiting on this beauty to be delivered so I’m definitely not complaining!). Serena & Lily was kind enough to send us a few goodies for the guest bedroom and Teddy agrees it’s already looking a lot better in here. 🙂

This mirror fit perfectly between the two windows opposite the bed and I’m still trying to decide if I like this gorgeous trunk underneath the mirror or at the foot of the bed. We spruced up the bed with these crisp percale sheets, these cozy quilted shams, and this matching blanket. I love the look of an all white bed but the hint of red trim on the sheets feels extra festive to me. We’ve been sleeping on Serena & Lily sheets for years (this set to be specific!) and now our guests get to do the same! And we can store a change of sheets in the trunk. 👌🏻

  2. Do you have any ideas for making life easier for hosting thanksgiving ?? Will you be doing a lot of the cooking, or will your family be helping? I don’t have a lot of time for prep! Help!!

    1. This is our first time attempting it and I imagine my mother-in-law will do 99% of the cooking! We usually alternate between my dad’s family in Rhode Island and Will’s family in Texas for Thanksgiving but Will’s parents were nice enough to come to us this year since Teddy is so little. It will just be the five of us so it shouldn’t be too overwhelming but hopefully I’ll have some words of wisdom after we host 20+ people for Christmas! 😬
