WHAT’S ONE THING YOU’RE LOOKING FORWARD TO TODAY?

I think right now we’re all desperate for a little good news and it’s harder than usual to give ourselves something to look forward to when the future is so uncertain. Will and I are still figuring out how to work from home together (advice very much welcome) as we’re confined to two rooms on the first floor with Teddy during the day and have my brother Camden working in the spare bedroom upstairs. We’ll be without a kitchen for at least two more months and the weather forecast in Connecticut isn’t looking great for the rest of the week, but I’d love to try to find a silver lining and give ourselves something small to look forward to each day. I go back and forth between feeling motivated to come out of this quarantine period in better shape or with better skin (more ideas on how to be productive here) and feeling so anxious and uncertain that it feels like an accomplishment to just get through another day. From what I’ve seen on social media, I’m guessing many of you can relate!

(And I feel like I have to caveat this entire post by saying I know this time is so much harder for medical professionals, grocery store employees, people with compromised immune systems, people who don’t have the luxury of working from home, and people who have already lost their jobs. Being asked to stay at home with people I love is a truly minuscule sacrifice by comparison and my heart goes out to each and every one of you.)

In any event I’d love to hear one thing you’re looking forward to today. Will and I are going to try to carve out some time tonight to listen to the seventh Harry Potter audiobook, which once complete will be the 50th book I’ve “read” for my 101 in 1001 list and allow me to cross both #1 and #35 off the list. There are a lot of goals that I probably won’t be able to cross off if the next few months continue in this vein — now is clearly not the time for boxing classes or trapeze lessons — but having this list of goals is a more helpful framework than ever and I look to it any time I’m feeling a little lost.

Are you reading anything you can’t put down? Obsessing over a new Netflix show? Planning a Google Hangout with girlfriends? Trying new recipes? I’d love to hear what’s keeping you going during this crazy time. Please stay safe, stay healthy, and above all, please stay home!
