FIVE BLACK-OWNED BUSINESSES I’VE ORDERED FROM RECENTLY

I’ve seen lots of great round-ups of Black-owned businesses over the past several weeks (here, here, here, and here to share a few!) and I wanted to share a few things I’ve ordered recently as part of a personal effort to be more conscientious about the businesses I’m supporting. I would LOVE to hear some of your favorite Black-owned businesses in the comments!

black owned businesses marie hunter candles

Marie Hunter candles  //  I fell in love with these for the chic design but the scents are just as lovely. I ordered the magnolia blossom, peony, and tuberose scents and the peony is unsurprisingly my #1! I’m also intrigued by the prosecco scent which was out of stock when I placed my order.

241 Cosmetics mascara  //  I’ve worn makeup very infrequently in the age of COVID-19 but I had to try this mascara after receiving a glowing recommendation in my Instagram DMs. The brush has the perfect curl to it! I’m also going to try their eyeliner when my current pencil bites the dust.

Lemlem swimsuit  //  Lemlem has so many gorgeous pieces and I landed on this pretty powder blue one-piece with bow shoulders and a low back. I ordered the size small and need to have the straps shortened as it dips a little too low in the front, but if you’re taller than I am (5’1″) you should be totally fine! It was definitely a splurge but the quality is gorgeous. The same print is also available on this darling popover dress.

Briogeo Farewell Frizz cream  //  I ordered this in the hopes it would distract from the fact that I haven’t gotten a keratin treatment since before I got pregnant and have been applying it to damp hair before using this blow dry hair brush. It makes a huge difference in the frizz around my hairline and I love the consistency. I’m eager to try this leave-in conditioner spray from the same line and this deep conditioning mask next!

the koop candles black owned businesses

The Koop candles  //  I went a little crazy ordering candles on this site as I could hardly believe a candle with such pretty packaging was so affordable. They didn’t arrive before we left for Nantucket but I love knowing that I have something fun waiting for me at home! I ordered the Garden Party, Golden Hour, Penthouse, and Slow Sunday scents and can’t wait to place them around our home.

P.S. I’m also excited to order from The Tiny Tassel when some of her pieces are back in stock — I’m on the waitlist for this adorable gingham top!

P.P.S. I can’t stop thinking about this pearl necklace from Black-owned jewelry line Mateo. Thoughts?!
