THE LAWN & GARDEN TOOLS WE’VE ORDERED FOR OUR BACKYARD

We’re back from Nantucket and I’m excited to settle into the parts of our home that we renovated and added on in the spring. Occasionally I get ahead of myself and start daydreaming about making major improvements to our backyard, but until we’re ready to take on another big project, I’ve been ordering various landscaping essentials to take care of the space we already have. I already order the majority of our household essentials on Amazon and home and garden products are no exception!

I’ve shared a couple little projects we’ve tackled in our backyard so far on Instagram including clipping our massively overgrown boxwoods (these hedge shears were a great buy) and power washing the deck around our pool (legitimately obsessed with this pressure washer and this attachment!). I have so much to learn about landscaping and gardening and always read a bunch of reviews from more experienced homeowners before making a new purchase. I was so excited when Amazon offered to send us a few more outdoor essentials to try out because we are honestly starting from scratch over here!

We don’t have a ton of healthy grass in our current yard as there’s a ton of gravel surrounding the pool. I would love to put down sod or attempt to grow new grass on our own in the future, but in the meantime we’ve been using this Greenworks 40V battery-powered lawn mower to tackle three smaller areas of our lawn where we do have grass. It’s amazingly lightweight and so much easier to maneuver than the gas-powered mower we have on Nantucket. We have the 20-inch version that stays charged for up to an hour which is plenty of time to get through the different parts of our yard! (P.S. Teddy’s toy mower can be found here!)

The next product is one I can’t live without in the summer months. We love sitting outside as a family and eating dinner by the pool at night, but I’ve always been a magnet for mosquitoes and often end up heading inside earlier than I’d like. I spray this Repel insect repellant on both exposed skin and clothing and the smell is much less noticeable than other brands I’ve tried. I also like that it goes on dry so I don’t feel sticky while I’m enjoying my time outside. It’s definitely something I’ll reorder on Prime as soon as we’re out!

Since we were away for most of the summer, we haven’t planted a ton of new flowers just yet, but I’m very excited because Will’s mom is actually sending us peony cuttings from his grandmother’s garden which we’re hoping to plant in October. My dad maintained the most gorgeous peony garden at our childhood home and I’m excited for him to teach me his ways! He’s always used some kind of plant food whether growing flowers, herbs, or vegetables so I’m keeping this Miracle-Gro plant food on hand for our first real foray into gardening this fall.
