Our playroom wallpaper went up this week and while I shared a sneak peek on Instagram, I wanted to snap a few quick photos for the blog so I can officially cross #58 off my 101 in 1001 list! This room is faaar from being finished and right now I (clearly) don’t have a grand plan just yet for maximizing the space and tackling toy storage in here but wanted to share the progress nonetheless!
Our plan is to use this space as a playroom in the coming years but because the room is open to our living room and mudroom on either side, I wanted to choose a wallpaper that would still work if the space functions more as a den or sunroom years from now. I have loved Quadrille’s Lyford Trellis wallpaper for as long as I can remember and it’s one of those things I hoped I could find a place for in our someday home. Seeing it on the walls of a space I spend time in every day is like a dream come true! This is a custom French blue colorway I ordered through Lynn Chalk, but you can browse more readily available color options on this site.
P.S. Linking our sofa, pillows, media console, trunk, faux fiddle leaf fig and basket, and rug but totally TBD on what will stay in here!
P.P.S. More on our Samsung Frame TVs in this post.

The Ikea Kallax in high gloss white is an affordable option for storage and would look perfect in the space. The woven baskets hide all their little toys. We love it for our playroom!
Adorable! Love it all!
I love this wallpaper! And I hear you on toy storage! 🙂 Also, random, but I just started doing a virtual Kindermusik class with my son (who is 10.5 months) and it’s truly a highlight of the week! (It is so cute and also hilarious with my son’s rambunctiousness.) Maybe something you & Teddy would enjoy too!
Aww that sounds like a blast! Always looking for ways to keep him engaged and happy. Thank you for the rec!
Are you pleased with the area rug, looks great in the pics and such a reasonable price.
Yes, it’s great, especially for the price! It sheds a little (which I only notice because I’m often sitting on the rug for hours each day!) but it’s super soft relative to other jute rugs we own.
Do you follow montessoriinreallife? She has some great toy storage ideas that are accessible to your beautiful boy while still fitting your clean/bright/aesthetic. Enjoy your finished projects!
really pretty!!
We just put this in a powder bath in the tangerine colorway … I love this wallpaper so much! Looks so good in that blue!
Oooh I bet that is stunning!!!
You have a thousand dollar wicker trunk in your playroom?
It used to be in our guest bedroom (https://www.mackenziehoran.com/2019/11/06/getting-ready-for-holiday-guests/) but yes, we moved it down here in an attempt to corral smaller toys. This isn’t the first comment you’ve left from this IP address expressing discontent with a choice we’ve made for our home or our baby and truly there’s no pressure to continue reading if I’m not your cup of tea!
I have my dogs leashes and poop bags in an antique Chinese ginger jar … some people like and enjoy curating a home full of nice things. Why are you trying to shame people?
Sorry, don’t mean to cause any problems – I’ve been a long time reader and this comment is just obnoxious.
You are so correct…. completely obnoxious
And I like your response, Mackenzie.
What are some toys that your son is loving at the moment ?
Most of his toys are linked in posts in this category but I’ll include some current favorites in his one year update at the end of the month! https://www.mackenziehoran.com/category/baby/
I don’t know how long I could resist coloring in their geometric shapes! 🙂
