We started decorating for the holidays this past weekend and even though our plans for Christmas are massively pared down this year, I’m still planning to do a little more decorating than we did last year because I think we could all use the extra holiday cheer right now. I’m still waiting on a few wreaths and ribbons to arrive for inside the house and we still need to put up our window candles, but my husband and brother Camden got the outdoor decorations finished this weekend and they make me so happy every time I pull in the driveway! These are the exact same decorations we did on our front porch last year but I figured I’d link currently available items for anyone who’s looking. And there’s a ton more decorating inspiration in this post!

We took these photos for a sponsored Instagram campaign with Kate Spade and I love them so much I wanted to post here as well! This light blue coat is to die for in person. I love, love, love the color and the jeweled buttons! The faux fur collar is detachable and the fit is just tailored to perfection. I’m tempted to do a more formal night (maybe Christmas Eve?) where we all dress to the nines even though we could just as easily wear sweatshirts to the dinner table. There’s something about a fancy outfit that feels extra celebratory and I know I’m not the only one who’s ready to send this year out in style! It felt so good to slip into heels for these photos — it’s been too long since I wore a pair out of the house! This pair would be a dream if you’re a bride-to-be — they have the perfect amount of shimmer (and aren’t made with glitter so they don’t “shed” sparkles) and Kate Spade heels are so comfortable and flattering.

Are any of you dressing up for the holidays this year or just going all out with the decorations? Would love to hear your plans in this strange year!

  1. I make a big Christmas Eve dinner for my family every year (it’s been about 12-13 years now!) This year I decided to make it a black tie 5 course meal (all dressed up and no where to go lol) any recommendations for cute holiday dresses? I love all things sequin and plaid 🙂

    1. Omg how FUN! I think I’m going to wear a sequined dress from my friend Jenn Lake’s capsule collection for Sail to Sable which launches today! So into an “all dressed up and nowhere to go” vibe for Christmas Eve. Enjoy your black tie festivities!

  2. Hi
Live in Charlotte NC. Getting married second time . My family has a place at Kiawah Island . I think we will have a simple marriage in Charlotte . I am looking for something to wear . Love Pink and Navy. Any suggestions?

  3. Looks beautiful, you’ve got me all inspired! We live in a long, low beach style house (a very New Zealand vernacular) and it’s summer here so I might need to switch the vibe up *slightly*, but now I desperately want to do our outdoor decorations, like today.

    That coat is a dream.
