BUYING AND SELLING FURNITURE ON APTDECO

You guys know I’ve been on a vintage furniture kick sourcing pieces for various rooms in our house and I wanted to tell you more about one of the sites I’ve been using to buy and sell used furniture online. I’ve truly never had a more seamless buying or selling experience when it comes to furniture, which has honestly been enough of a pain point that we’re sitting on an attic/basement/garage full of things I’ve been meaning to list but haven’t found the motivation to tackle. AptDeco is an online marketplace currently live in the tri-state area for buying and selling both gently used pieces and brand new items from major retailers. So far I’ve used AptDeco to sell two hot pink file cabinets from the Container Store that I used when I had office space in Dallas and to purchase an absolutely gorgeous wood pedestal table for the other side of the chesterfield sofa in Will’s office. Both experiences were so simple that I not only find myself bookmarking new arrivals on their site but also taking inventory of things in our house that I’d love to find new homes for.

These are the file cabinets I sold through AptDeco — in less than two days! I think they’re such a fun statement piece for a girly home office but I was honestly shocked at how fast they found a new home. All I had to do was snap pictures and submit measurements, use AptDeco’s pricing tool to come up with a fair asking price, and approve the purchase request that came in less than 48 hours later. The AptDeco team coordinates pick-up of your items and works with the buyer to coordinate drop-off so there’s zero contact between you and the buyer, which anyone who’s ever bought or sold something on Craigslist will tell you is basically a game-changer. Their delivery team arrived on time and in masks, the pick-up took approximately 60 seconds, and I had money in my account within the week. AptDeco takes a percentage of the purchase price in exchange for handling advertising, payment, pick-up, and delivery, which means they only get paid if your item sells. Truly cannot say enough good things about the process.

I’ve bookmarked several finds on AptDeco but my first purchase was this wood pedestal table. I absolutely love the shape and it’s the perfect size to sit next to the (also vintage!) chesterfield sofa in Will’s home office. I’ve loved transforming this room into a masculine library-esque space in the eighteen months that we’ve lived in this house — it has a totally different vibe than other rooms in our house and I love how cozy and collected it feels! The buying process on AptDeco was just as easy as the selling process — the seller approved the purchase request, I selected a few delivery windows, and the AptDeco team actually reached out to coordinate picking up the file cabinets and dropping off the pedestal table at the same time. Ummm, yes please! I found a few more tables I love here, here, here, and here if you’re on the hunt for a similar piece for your home.

A few more listings I have my eye on (or love but don’t have a home for, so I’m sharing them with you!): these acrylic side tablesthis antique dresser, this lucite console, this pagoda mirror, this (under $100!) Parsons desk, this pedestal dining table, and this wood bookcase. Happy shopping!
