I’m constantly rearranging various furniture, rugs, artwork, and decor in our house, finding new homes for old items, and making space for new finds. It’s something I’ve done since I was little (frequently reconfiguring my bedroom layout and offering my mother unsolicited decorating advice downstairs as well) but it just makes me happy to keep things feeling fresh! If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember me posting about these colorful oushak rugs from a company called The Loom & Co. and wanting to order one to make our living room feel a little less casual. (You can see past iterations of this space here and here!) I’m so in love with how this new rug elevates the space and how the colors tie everything together.

I still need to order curtains for this room and decide what I want to do along the front wall, but I love the way it’s coming together almost two years into living here. We’ve now moved the previous living room rug into the playroom, the living room rug before that into Teddy’s new bedroom, and the previous playroom rug into Will’s office and I’m sure my husband and parents are hoping that’s the last of the rug rearranging for a long time. 🙂

In any event, I definitely recommend looking into Loom & Co.’s assortment if you’re looking for something like this! This is the Dean rug with a slight color tweak (I opted for more of an oatmeal color vs. the gray to coordinate with our sofa) and I’m eventually planning to order a runner for our upstairs hallway — also love the colors in this, this, this, and this. Their rugs are an investment piece but completely customizable in terms of color and size, easy to clean, gorgeous quality, and quite soft underfoot. So pleased with this purchase!

  1. I have been thinking about this rug and have a specific question for you. Did you feel like you had to move out your chairs covered in Lee Jofa Sameera to make this work visually? I ask because I do have patterned accent chairs in the room where this rug is intended to go. The color palette all jives, but I’m worried it may be too much pattern on pattern. It might also depend on the specific patterns though. Would love to understand your thought process! Love your style and blog!

    1. Yes, exactly! The rug is a bold pattern and so is the Lee Jofa floral on the chairs so I felt like they needed a little blank space between them. I if the scale of the pattern on your chairs is smaller than the blue and white floral I have here, it could still work!

  2. Oh em gee this looks BEAUTIFUL!! I definitely agree it elevates the space and makes it more formal. I love love love how this came out 🙂
