We had the best visit with my Grandy in Florida (see a photo of all four generations together here!) and even though we definitely have a lot to learn about traveling with two little ones in tow, I would do it again in a heartbeat to be able to spend quality time with her in person instead of over Zoom. To see Teddy offering Grandy a french fry or Grandy feeding Peter a bottle… it’s amazing how much less I take those little moments for granted after so many months apart. Counting our blessings, that’s for sure.
On a semi-related note — wow, there is nothing like a few days of 90+ degree heat to catapult you into a summer state of mind. We went from literally pulling out our winter coats on Memorial Day in New England to racing to the pool to cool off every morning in Naples and I’m officially feeling ready to burn all the sweats I lived in this past year and start putting together real outfits again. While I’ll mostly be living in nursing-friendly dresses this summer, I’m excited to pull my beloved basket bags out of retirement (er, the top shelf of my closet), lace up my favorite espadrilles, and remember what it’s like to have a social life again. I need a new basket bag (my blanket term for anything rattan, straw, wicker, or woven) like I need a hole in the head, but every year I can’t resist one or two new additions to my collection. Here are a few that have caught my eye so far this season:
