TEDDY’S BEDROOM REVEAL

I’ve been working on Teddy’s new room since Peter moved into the nursery and I’m excited to share the space with you today! I decided I wanted to make a statement with window treatments instead of wallpaper for a change and I love the way it turned out. The gingham curtains are so fun! I did want to mention we did two twin beds so Teddy and Peter can eventually share this room and so we have some flexibility when family comes for the holidays but Teddy is still in a crib for the time being (we just moved it out of the way for most of the photos so you can see the way we ultimately plan to use the space!). I shared plans for this space in this post from February if you want to go back and see my starting point!

The crib in the first photo was a generous hand-me-down from a local reader — the exact style is no longer available from Pottery Barn Kids but it’s similar to this current style on their site. You can see where it’s currently positioned between the two front windows and then what that wall will look like once Teddy’s moved out of the crib and into one of the twin beds. I ordered a sample of this Schumacher gingham fabric and immediately knew I wanted to work it into this space in a big way — I ordered the custom cornice boards and curtains through this Etsy shop and counted down the days until they arrived and totally transformed this small space!

The second floor of our home had zero recessed lighting when we bought it so that’s something we’ve added over time as our family has grown and we’ve moved into each room. I opted for this rattan flush mount in the large size but I probably could have gotten away with the smaller size in this room which measures approximately 12′ x 13′. This jute rug used to be in our living room but we moved it up here when we changed things up downstairs and it’s the perfect neutral foundation for a bedroom. I ordered the headboards from One Kings Lane and it looks like the exact style is no longer available, but this and this are available in the same French blue linen that’s so beautiful in person. The blue and white bedding is Serena & Lily, the striped quilts are Caitlin Wilson, and the little bunny slippers were a $12 Amazon find.

This is the view you see when you walk into the room and it makes me happy every time! The mirror and the dresser are from Caitlin Wilson’s new children’s collection Cait Kids and I swear I could decorate five bedrooms with pieces from their collection (this canopy bed, this daybed, this scalloped table, this sofa…!). I love the octagonal hardware on the dresser and the gold detail on the mirror and we’re using this changing tray while our boys are still in diapers. P.S. Caitlin Wilson also offers a design styling service that will do either in-person or virtual consults with mood boards, samples, and install advice if you need a little help pulling things together!

You know I couldn’t resist another wallpapered closet moment after wallpapering the closet in our nursery! Teddy loves pointing out stars in every book we read so I ordered this navy star wallpaper and Teddy spent a half hour in there after it was installed pointing to every little star he could reach. 💙 Just a sweet little surprise when you open the door! I love using these affordable acrylic rods for a quick closet upgrade.

I ordered these acrylic bookshelves to house some of Teddy’s ever-expanding book collection that also spills into the nursery and playroom. They’re great for filling a large wall inexpensively and creating shelf space that hardly takes up any room.

I wanted to do red, white, and blue but per usual there’s a lot more blue and white than red. 😉 The throw pillows are a Quadrille fabric ordered through this Etsy shop and the photos above the beds are from Nantucket Print Shop, the Etsy shop I run with my brother Camden. You can find each one left to right here, here, and here! The side table was from Target (similar here), the table lamp is from Pottery Barn with a navy shade, and the sailboat and telescope are from Caitlin Wilson.

  1. Love this room!! It’s perfect 💙 How are you liking the acrylic shelves? Do you feel like they’re good quality (thicker, don’t scratch easily, resist warping, etc)? Thanks so much!!

    1. Thank you! They’re good enough quality for a children’s room with lightweight books (no issues with warping) but they’re definitely not thick acrylic! I would search for lucite shelves if you’re looking for something higher end 🙂

  2. The room turned out so nicely – you guys did such a great job! And those stars in the closet are a really sweet touch.

  3. This is so darling and inspirational! Thank you for linking all the items, this def opened my eyes to all thats out there. Also, did not know those window treatments were called cornice boards. What are your thoughts on those in a rental?

    1. My mom and I made some for my first apartment — I think they’re great if you can DIY them and use an inexpensive fabric! There are tons of tutorials online. Thank you for reading! 🙂

  4. Bravo! Most adorable and sophisticated room for Peter! And a great all around post. Love all the sources! You’ve always been so very talented, but I declare you certainly hit it out the ballpark on this one. Love following you and your family. Please give my love to your Sweet Grandy – I’m hoping to run into to the “Grand Lady” while we’re in Nantucket!!! And of course I hope to spot you!
